How long have people noticed it takes for a submitted site to appear in DMOZ?

I've submitted some sites, good ones with real content, not mini-sites or overly "Adsensed" ones, and am wondering what people have seen for a timeframe.

Especially interested in those who have submitted a number of sites.

I have almost given up on getting listed. I don't submit mini-sites just real development ones. My last submit was a .info site with lots of valuable content and more added weekly(or so) at the beginning of April last. Nothing yet. The site has good results in most of the major SE's.

I submitted another commercial site in August -- same thing.

FRUSTRATING!!

content sites can also benefit from getting listed at
www.zeal.com and
www.joeant.com
As for dmoz, it seems to be hit or miss, even for quality sites. I've had several get in fairly easily, and others it takes eons.

That's the impression I'm getting. I know I've submitted quite a few this past year, and I'm only seeing one of my sites listed at all (which I submitted many many years ago). I think their editors have become lazy.

it all depends on how much of a nazi the dmoz editor you get assigned to is.

I think a lot of it, actually, depends on whether the editor is a competitor of yours or not. Perhaps I am wrong..... :)

Rogue, is pretty close to the problem. Sure there are some good editiors on Dmoz.. there are also some nasty ones who seem to get a kick out of turning down applicants. Seems the best way to get on dmoz nowadays is to be an editor and find a nice neiche that no one is editing.

Keep at it even though i have had 2 domains in the last 2 years get listed :(

Yeh, I submitted my site almost 7 months ago. Full of content, updated more than once daily, and it was never entered into the database.

:(

just submit and then forget. :)

Patience is a virtue when it comes to getting a DMOZ listing.

I've only been listed once. Just submit more than one time over a period of time, they know it's a site that's sticking around then.

the secret to a quick dmoz listing is having an actual developed website. which the domain wasnt just registered yesterday and you just uploaded a template and added some rss feeds... everytime i have submitted a quality site where i have waited atleast 6 months to get it listed it has been accepted in under a week.

One submission to the category that best fits your website is enough!
believe it or not but your site actually stays in the categorys que until it is reviewed and editors can see if your site was submitted a million times.

really.. dmoz should be the one wanting your site listed and not you

and make sure theres no spelling mistakes.... or spammy titles and descriptions..
those are the main ones why your site wouldnt get listed. just from my personal experiances as an editor at dmoz and others.

It is extremely difficult to predict the time to get listed in DMOZ but if you follow the proper guidelines then your site may get listed soon.

Do not spam the directory, submit once, to the correct category and within the guidelines.
Write your description carefully, they want objective descriptions. The easier you make it for the editor, the quicker you will get in.
Write good and original content on your site, avoid spelling errors.

It depends. I got one site submitted in 2 weeks. Another one of my sites doesnt appear on DMOZ even though it passed around 1 year since I filled the submission form.

Most sites do not get listed. DMOZ is very biased, despite what's said. I have read several things, and I think there was a thread here about it a couple of months ago.

I'm beginning to wonder about DMOZ myself. I can remember a few years ago when I'd sumbit a site and it'd be listed in a few weeks or a month. Perhaps I got lucky with those.

In the last two years I've submitted several sites and it's safe to say 5/6 did not get listed and I'm still waiting on the last. It has in stats that a link from DMOZ was followed to the site but I cannot find it listed in DMOZ so I'm assuming this was an editor. I submitted it about a month ago.
