I've never seen this posted anywhere and only found this link when I applied to become an editor.

This is a DMOZ sponsored forum where you can check the status of your directory and editor submissions. You can get tips on being listed. It's kind of a doorway into the secret world of the DMOZ.

The RZ has all the while been the forum for DMOZ.
In the old days, we were able to check out submission status on that forum.

Editors contribute a lot or a little depending on time and inclination. They do have to remain minimally active (edit every month), or their editor account lapses, but they can apply to have it reactivated.

The benefit is getting to contribute to a very worthwhile project, deciding what goes in and what stays out of your category (in accordance with the editing guidelines).
