In perhaps the fastest growing tech field at the moment some news that was released today concerned the appointment of Prof. Neil Hopkinson of Sheffield University as a Director of Xaar.

Quoting from the Yahoo report "Hopkinson in 2014 led a project that developed a technology called high speed sintering (HSS), which created printers that could fabricate objects at production-level speeds, in mass quantities."

The full report can be found at:

Personal Comment.
I think the 3D / 4D field is opening up and although of course all the 'best' domains have long been registered. (Have you got any 3D / 4D domains and if so which do you own?)

There is opportunities as in every tech field for domainers to take advantage of just as there will be opportunities for website developments in these fields.

(I hope this thread is alright with moderators and if it should be transferred to another forum would appreciate it if that could be done.)

Some news today from the world of 3D printing (or should that now be 'universe' - see below).

- Mcor announced that they will be releasing their 'Arke' desktop 3D paper printer in the second quarter of this year. The printer uses as the description indicates paper as the main build material for the printer. The printer is also able to colour and therefore paint the object being printed - looks pretty impressive, but be warned at the moment it comes with a £4k price tag so it will not be for everyone but I think it will likely be quite popular (it already has over 2,500 pre-orders that equals).

- Carbon3D raised $100m in 'c' round funding for its 'Clip Printer' 3D printing method. Clip printing is likely to be 25 -100 faster than normal printing and give a much smoother surface than normal 3D printing.

- Again some of you may have seen my posts talking about the breakthrough in ceramics 3D printing that was announced this week by HRL Laboritories, LLC. The new technology uses polymer derived ceramics (PDC). This is a major step forward especially in high-tech engineering 3D printing especially in the aerospace industry.

- Going into outer space now! After previous announcements by both NASA and the ESA about exploring the possibilities of 3D printing a moon base, etc., the private company 'Planetary Resources' has today shown off the first 3D object printed using alien resources!

I have been lucky enough to pick up a few good 3D domains (well I hope they are good anyway  ) on the back of these news items, today I managed to hand reg:

3DPaperPrinter.com
3DPaperPrinters.com

Must admit that I stopped short of registering 3DSpacePrinter, etc. - that may just be a little too much of a long term investment for me .......... but come to think about it

What 3D (or 4D) domains have you got registered?

Well it seems that the 3D area is of little interest to members so I will let this thread die a quick and peaceful death. :'(
