Disney has bought Marvel but didnt protect themself, someone has already registered DisneyMarvel.com & MarvelDisney.com

The owners whois - Here - Disneymarvel.com - Disney Marvel & Marveldisney.com - Marvel Disney

Disney is normally good at protecting there brand so Im surprized that they didnt buy these before there CEO was on CNBC talking about the deal.

Anyone got any thoughts?

I would think that they could easily file & win a WIPO for them. Registrations like these are why domain owners are looked down upon.

I agree - Just strange why they didnt register it these guys must have been in talks for several months and to think spending a few dollars to protect a new brand, I suspect Marvel shall run as Marvel for a while and use Marvel.com but I would expect it eventually to become DisneyMarvel and then they would need that domain.

But your right this give us domainers a bad name!

Why would you expect Marvel to become DisneyMarvel? Pixar is just Pixar. Miramax is just Miramax. Touchstone is Touchstone. ESPN is ESPN. Marvel has it's own identity. The Marvel brand is nearly a half century old and generations of fans are fiercely loyal to it. Disney has always been very aware of the power of branding, brand loyalty and corporate image and very good about letting companies it owns maintain images that are discreet from the corporate image.

Yea I also don't see why they would become DisneyMarvel. I also being a big fan of Marvel comics think that it should and will stay as it is now. Why mess with the brand? Why the need for Disney to put their stamp on it? It won't change anything Marvel is great being Marvel.

Well just my thoughts, I thought they would protect the brand and buy the name before they made an annoucement.

Agreed. The size of Marvel doesnt even come close to Disney. It would make no sense to rebrand across the board for both companies (even if under the same flag). Good acquisition for Disney, I dont think their overly concerned about the domain name.
