Directory's - How can I get one?

Ok, i want to make a directory,(im not going to say what for)but i cant figure out what i should use.i want to make it so that you pick the category, then you pick one and then its the article, does anyone know of something i could use to make this?i want to make it sop that users can join and login and stuffs to?it would help if some one could tell me what scripts to use, and i'd prefer if it worked with something thats in fantastico.thank you, if you need more details just ask.i also want it so that once i user posts an article, it will immediatly show up, but i dont want it to be like a forum.
