I meant to register ‘DigitalCameras.mobi’ on the landrush day, and was so excited when I won it. I thought I had a $50,000 .mobi domain.

Months and months later I figured out I left out a vowel… I’m a believer in markets, so I’m starting the bidding at $0 for my first auction here (yes, someone can bid $0 and if no one else bids they get it for $0!...but I don’t think that is going to happen).

Domain Name: DigtalCameras.mobi
Registrar: DomainDiscover (or other)
Date of Expiration: 09-26-08

Starting Bid: $0 (that’s right, I believe in the ‘market’ to value this appropriately)
Bid Increments: $5 if no bids or just a bid of $0, $1 after that
Auction Ends: 72 after start of auction, or 48 hours after last bid, whichever is later.

Forms of accepted Payment: 'Thank you e-mail' if total is $0, otherwise Paypal from verified paypal accounts only.

Edit: I see my message is the only one not in the message list without an 'auction' icon next to it. In posting the message, I see icons like 'Look', 'Awful', etc. but not 'Auction'. How does this work? Thanks. Old time domainer, newbe to this forum.

Edit 2: Now I see the 'Auction' logo next to the title on the main msg list. I'm not sure why it wasn't there and now is, but it doesn't matter I guess.

Google seems to think there are people typing in this misspelling, so I am going to bid $1.

$1 bid probably not valid...

The bid of $1 isn't probably valid, as the increment listed in my orig post was '$5 if no bids or just a bid of $0, $1 after that'...

So I guess unless someone bids $5+ (a bargain), it will go to the $0 bidder.

Ok, so we can only bid in increments of $1 IF someone first bids $5...? Hmmm.

Do you have any traffic or income stats for us?

No, it isn't a stats thing. The $5 thing was that it isn't worth the bother to get $2 from someone.

I really don't care if people bid $1 increments accept it isn't fair to the $0 bidder, -AAE-, since the original rules stated $0 opening, $5 increment if below $5, $1 otherwise. If he posts that he doesn't care if someone bids $1-4, I don't care.

No problem, I'll withdraw my confused bid of $1.

I think I need to reboot this thread. Between messages here and especially via e-mail, things got slightly complicated. I tried to post a msg on the .mobi marketplace which I didn't notice until after I posted this thread, but then it didn't appear even though I waited a long time for it to show up. So I told someone I was going to kill this thread, and now the moderator approved the other message.

Thanks nielsencl for helping to clear things up, and I'm going to e-mail -AAE- as I don't know whether his 'have to bid $0' was a statement of interest or commentary on what he thought it was worth.

Sorry for the noise... hopefully this thread is dead now. Next time I'll post in the right place and I won't make the increment plan any more complicated than needed.
