Digital Signatures?

I am in the process of writing up my web / logo design contract and have recently read about something called a "digital signature" and that they have the same legal validity as a handwritten one.

Is this true for the United Kingdom? If it is, how would I go about setting up a digital signature system?

This is true for every country as long as you pay the company that is providing an authenticated signature. I know Verisign is a company that issues digital signatures. There may be more out there. Best would be to use Google and do some research.
