Did Walmart buy Pharmacy.com?

In August, Fairwinds announced that they were brokering the sale of Pharmacy.com and marketing for over $50 million (see http://www.redherring.com/Home/22487).

Tonight, I noticed that visiting http://pharmacy.com redirects you to http://walmart.com .

Does anyone know anything about this?

Name is forwarded to WalMart site but uses NS of internet consulting company that is most likely hired by WalMart. Sorry, I don`t catch, what is wrong with this scheme?

Although possible, Im willing to bet they purchased. Certainly they have deep enough pockets and know the cost of advertising online.

It should be anyway temporary solution, perhaps some related transactions are not finished yet. All payments finalized etc

The domain still shows CSC Corporate Domains as the owner and the name servers it points to belong to Fairwinds Partners. So I guess it hasn’t been sold.

The cached version goes to Wal-Mart, because Pharmacy.com was forwarding to a Wal-Mart page through an affiliate redirect for some time. It points to another website now which is powered by SearchFeed.com. The owner is apparently experimenting with different possiblities to monetize the name’s traffic.

Does this make sense to you all? I posed the question if walmart did by pharmacy.com

It did for a little bit. I think Walmart showed interest in the domain and they wanted to "test" it to see how it would do. They probally got a 1 or 2 week test and now it's back to the table to find a price..

I would estimate value of pharmacy.com at $9 million as I doubt it recives anything like as many type-ins as sex.com ($14m)

Bare in mind that Sex.com sold back in 05. Nearly 3 years ago. With the huge growth of the domain market, I would venture a guess that price has gone up at least a couple of points. However, I think your pretty close in terms of valuation, could go up if regulations loosened on purchasing medication online.

Their evaluation is 50 million. I am still thinking this is a high price. Probably lowering it would help in getting more buyers sniffing this name.
