interesting stuff here...

WASHINGTON – A senior Russian embassy official is threatening to use force if necessary to prevent the U.S. from deploying combat weapons in space.

Vladimir Yermakov, senior counselor at the Russian embassy in Washington, said his country is urging the U.S. through diplomatic channels against any plans for space militarization. But he told a space conference Russia would have to react, possibly with force, if the U.S. successfully put a "combat weapon" in space.

Big Ball Boris..considering you dont have a military left.

well Apollo.. it is truly to bring about discussion..

if you look back at the beginning of this thread..several said it was a bad idea... I didnt reply, thats opinion.. but when the posts became aggresive (or anti American) I did jump onto the offensive. (wrong, prolly.. but not the goal of the thread..).

As per the US getting weapons into space secretly... I have an interesting quote from the former head of the Lockheed Skunkworks from last year (immediately after he retired)

"to get an idea of how far the US technology is behind the curtain, watch starwars and star trek and think 50 years into their future."

that.. is mind numbing if you think about it.

Peace, forever and ever Amen Apollo.

sadly, our enemies dont want peace.. and will die hating us.

Since this thread is orignally about Russia, I'll recommend www.allofmp3.com Good quality, cheap music via questionable (but yet to be proven illegal) Russian copyrights. Be sure to consider the irony of this while you're downloading "Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue".

You guys really think americans are that popular in the world? WAKE UP!

Why do you america gets attacked so much, i can't walk anywhere over heard without hearing people say crap about americans.

Bush is an idiot if he goes into space, he will be stopped by force im sure russia have a few missles ready they keep a lot of info to themselves.

I just want to say sorry for that post. But i must say that america is not as popular as some would think.

Bush is a bit stupid and i think he needs to re-think a lot of things he is doing and letting happen.

Many things he has done are stupid and bad to say he is the smartest man alive shows a lot about what you know my friend.

I beleive he is a good man and he means well in the end but theres just lots of things he hasn't done right.

We may not be allowed to own a gun legally but america does love guns its a well known fact ZuraX.

yes Liam.. we know we are despised by those who prefer to ignore the evils of this world... or let the evils work themselves out.

I think war is horrible, honestly.

But.. I also know that sometimes it is necessary.

The hardest thing you'll ever do in your life (and I hope you do this at least once) is to go against every one elses opinion and do the absolute right thing. That is the definition of courage in it's purest and simplest form.

I too questioned this war for a time. What swayed me back into line was listening too... of all people, Bill Clinton throw his support behind George Bush II and poopoo the leftists.

That says alot. He is as far left as you can get, but because he no longer has a political agenda..he is free to speak the truth.. that there is a threat to this world..and ignoring threats anymore, for the USA... is not an option.

Clinton did this and it lead too 9/11. (not casting stones here)... but I believe he realises it and since his former position allows him greater insight into the global theater than you, I or most of us here are ever likely to have.. we simply have to take their word that, indeed... terrorists want you dead before Iraq, after Iraq and for all eternity. for no more than your not a strict islamist. So much so they are killing their "own people" for looking for a job.

Bush is doing what he.. is his heart of hearts.. knows is right. He is standing against the wind, all the trash and dirt people spew to make the middle east into a place where women aren't murdered for talking to a man.. where dictators dont win elections by 100%, or pay for suicide bombers into Israel..etc etc etc.

I have many problems hearing (or not hearing rather) the lefts justification for actually being against a war that ousted a man that did absolutely NO good, and affected (negatively) the lives of hundreds of millions living in the Mid East.

You praise Saddams removal.. but curse his "remover"... for what reason?

I prescribe..somewhat.. to the "Sword Fish" school of thought. Yes, we lot 1,600 men and women in Iraq... but at the pay off of 30million living free and getting more freedom every day. That is the Duty, honor bound American.. to sacrifice ones self for the overall betterment of humanity. It is what makes America great.. and what has kept the rest of the world free.

Libya, Iran, Demascus, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and more.. have all had their people nowe beginning to rise up and say ENOUGH! Laws are changing in Saudi Arabia even to allow women to vote.. the beauty of change.

But, for all of this.. there is one other person that shares the responsibility for this change in the mid east that is giving people their freedom.

Osama Bin Laden.

Without him and his ilk being so despised for their acts and deeds, America would have a very hard job at it and the people crying for freedom now.. would have been killed.

just as they would have been inside Iraq before Bush stood his ground, against all the rhetoric.. and at the time possibly destroying his re-election chances... to do the right thing, against all odds.

Bush is a hero for that alone... and in ten years, when the middle east is on the verge of complete freedom, I believe we all can look back and know that Bush.. above anyone else..is the man to thank.

I do praise saddams removal, the war was illegilly staged on false accusations, he had no WOMD it was an escuse for good old bush and blair to team up to get rid of saddam. Without saying saddam had WOMD our two contries could never of made the war and then who knows...

But theres a but here i priase bush and blair for doing it, it god rid of a horrible man and his reign of terror for iraq is over, people lost there lives but it was a neccesary war to make the world better and to give iraq a chance for something more.

Three more years and saddam would have had nuclear capablities,It would have effected virtually the whole middle east and all in the regions would have been in danger.Binladen had to be stopped as alqada was threating every country with thier cowardly terrorism,Binladen will be caught and will be brought to justice,Our troops will carry him back personally,His day is coming,He is no longer a priority as his alquada network has been weakend to a mere group of cowards that are running for thier lives.President Bush did what he had to do as he is not only protecting americans but all the regions of the middle east and behond. If we want to keep our freedom,There is a price. This soley my opinion. But GODBLESS everyone as we are all brothers and sisters in the eyes of CHRIST.

Erm.. I think Osama's made up, just like Iraqi's WOMD. No offense to US, but it could be a good set up. If Saddam could hide so well, why couldn't Iraq hide their WOMD so well, too? If they find Osama they should find WOMD.

Without trying to sound smart, can you name anywhere peaceful?

Less people died under Saddam! Get that man in his pants back in power - at least he controlled the country. The US has destroyed it and will pay with 10's or 100's of billions of dollars over however many years. I'd put money on you still being there in 3 years time. Well deserved.

*goes off topic completely*

I use that site, its awesome! ;)

*back to topic*

Although I think Bush is definately NOT the brightest man alive, I believe that alot of desicions he has made have been completely correct, and Iraq WAS one of them.....

In a few years, with alkieda growing in strength, Iraq would without doubt, have become a huge threat to the well being of the world around us...

Are you serious? This is not an attack on you but if you are serious that is one of the dumbest things I have ever read. First off Saddam killed his own people and made their lives a living hell not too mention his son. The normal hard working family people hated Saddam, the fact that the US grabbed it's balls yet again and went in to Iraq and overthrew the regime is a beautiful thing. People always put down the US for taking action and yet no other country is willing to help out their fellow man/woman when they are in need except when the US goes in and asks for help. This is off topic so I will end it here...but please think before you post something :alien:

Good Lord, where to start!

Let me first preface by saying I love all things British and/or U.K :tu: My father was British and served in the British Army for many years. Having said that...

Some of you Brit boys need to go read up on your own history. A lot of the problems being addressed today in the Middle East are due (in large part) to the empire building mentality of Britain. If any country knows about invading other lands, nation building and/or leaving a bloody mess behind... it's the British! :|

1. Let’s talk about today's India, Pakistan and Kashmir?? Remember Gandhi?? :tu: And, whose idea was it to divide up along religious lines? Great, now they hate each other and both have nukes.

2. What's now Israel... what was Palestine for as long as the British were there. To be fair, the U.S. and the U.K. were in on making it Israel but your military was there, uninvited, keeping the people in check, before it was Israel.

3. Turkey... Africa... you name it ... Britain has left its own boot prints in nearly every part of the world. And we're not taking hundreds of years ago... this all in the previous century!

4. And what about Northern Ireland? Your own backyard isn't as neat and tidy as you would like us to believe.

5. And what about the Falklands Islands?! Y'all came thousands of miles for a tiny friggin' island... of no national value... off the coast of some other country?? :-/

6. 7. 8. ... sadly, there are many more examples!

You do realize, "...the sun never sets on the British Empire..." wasn't just some line in a song?? It was a reality for many countries subjugated by Britain. :|

So, before you start throwing stones realize that your own hands aren't exactly clean!

erm I don't know where you are getting that from.

Take a look at what he did with Iraq, the Kurds, and every other fgroup of people that did not agree with his regime.

I beleive that he did not have these weapons (fuelled by the lack of evidence) but in all honesty it is his own fault HE HIMSELF claimed he had them and was ready to use them, this was partially responsible for his downfall.

ok where to start firsty dont start talking about the IRA and sinn fein etc, where do you think most of their money comes from, yes beleive it or not it is the USA

Reagarding the falkland isles the people who lived there WANTED TO BE UNDER BRITISH CONTROL they were taken over by a country they had no desire to be ruled by (hence why they helped the british troops). So in retrospect was it such a futile battle?

Earlier someone was on about how the USA saved the day during the world wars, the only reason they joined is because they were attacked they were too busy PROFITING FROM THE WAR the UK is still heavily in debt to the USA monetarily wise yet the second world war ended 60 years ago.

Also mentioned was the space race again the only reason the USA persisted in this was to make sure THEY BEAT THE USSR nothing to do with exploration it was a pr excersize to show how great and powerful the USA was. The USA were ready to drop the project but saw how close the USSR was so continued.

You can distort history all you want and im sure you will.
