how good overture are you talking about? is it over at least 5k? what is on .com? parked site or website? what product can be sold from website if yo will buy this dictionary word?

the words i am referring to do not have good marketable product potential at all. they are just very common nouns that have at least 5k ovt and all the other tlds are taken. for example i just regd SUBSTANCES.tv; the word SUBSTANCES had over a 25k overture, over 100mil google hits, and the other tlds were all taken. so i decided to reg it, was this a wise move? i have about 20 other names like SUBSTANCES on the chopping block and just need some opinions on whether or not to pull the trigger. thanks Gugush and 007

you know, i would go to sedo or afternick, to check, if other extensions are for sale, and if they have any bids, more bids, more interest people have to that words. imho.. also i would check dnsaleprice.com to see if any of those words have benn sold in past at high price. than deside.

There are a lot of dictionary (most of the time obscure) domains available under .com.
Should you register them ?
It all depends.
Certain niche words may have value if you work in a specific industry or have connections (possible end users). If you are looking to resell it would be advisable to stick to the industries you are familiar with, or you are going to end up with too many useless words on your hand.

OVT and google results should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Let's just take on example:
occlusion
9,310,000 results in Google.

This a word that is often used in medicine but in other fields as well. Does it have potential ? Probably not a lot as it is too focused and not really usable.
Despite the fact that it's registered in major TLDs.
Use your common sense. One good domain should be usable to have any potential for resale.

Just experiment without spending too much, I'm also looking at buying some good words but on non dot com tlds but I will just try a few to see how they go first.

You can try tasting with dotcomgenie, pool, moniker etc

they charge a few cents per domain...which is a real small price to pay for something like this
