Nice name, Darren. Perfect for a developer and webmaster resource website. I had been looking at developed.name (for a developed domain sales site), but decided to pass on it. I think its still available.

Welcome to the .name bandwagon!

Thanks Apollo! My first .name extension, and I'm very happy with it. :) Your developed.name is still avaliable. ;)

I don't plan on reselling this name unless I can scratch a reasonably high sale on it, but I've been thinking for some time now on setting up a website that works towards developing domain names, and giving them some extra value for resell.

The name seems to fit perfectly for what I have in mind. What do you guys think of my development plans, also? :tu:

It's still early in the existence of 2nd level .names, so appraisal figures here are just a guesstimate. I like this name. Its fitting for a web developer / domainer like many of us here. I would use it!

Whats with the .name?

They are not worth the cash to reg them!

Aren't .name's only for personal names or nicknames, even the second-level ones?

I think the TLD is what we make of it. Take for example .bz, which is supposed to be for Belize, and is now being marketed as an alternative to dot-biz. Remember when .org floated the idea of enforcing the original intended use of .org's? There was a "hands off my .org!" campaign that convinced them to rethink.

While .name is intended for personal name registrations, I doubt that the registry will be eager to implement this rule strictly. Otherwise, it will drastically reduce their sales.

Why do you say that, gOldy? Don't you think the .name extension is good for the domain name industry? ;)

As Apollo basically said, .name domains are for personal use, such as names and nicknames, but why not take advantage of the extension and use it for the domain name industry too?

.name extensions runs a bit like .tv extensions. .tv where not made for the Television industry, but most of the .tv domains I've seen have been related to some kind of television name. .name have not been made for the domains name industry, however, within time I think it the domain industry will apear just as popular as nicknames and real names. :)

Doesn't really make sense in the .name space, but could be worth something.

Domainerz, Why do you say that? Any particular reason?

I think it fits perfect. Use the examples of people posting apprasials to 'develop' domain names. Think of this .name extension being domain related, not real name related. ;)

You always bring up good points. Although .bz hasn't really worked that well as an alternate .biz, since .biz hasn't really worked as an alternative .com!

Also, the .org situation was different, I think, because the registry wasn't made with a strict policy regulating it's namespace, as opposed to .aero or even .name...

LOL - Domainerz seems to appraise all domains at "00.00" Maybe he's only a fan of his own domain names? :hehe:

.bz would have worked, except .biz came around. And .biz sales are already starting to come in ...

I don't see ICANN pandering to domainers by giving us our own tld, so .name is the best we can do. :)
