I'm thinking of investing in some .de's....I live in America, wanted to make sure there are no rules, restrictions, transfer problems, etc. I couldn't really find anything on google.

Also do you think .de's are a good idea?

Thanks for any help!

.de seems like a solid investment depending on the keyword. IDNs in .de have also taken off and have been selling for xx,xxx... I wish I knew German to buy some of the IDN/ASCII domains... but I've already screwed up with other languages that I don't wanna take the risk.

Not sure about restrictions, but I think it is a good idea.

Some German IDN.de Sales that just took place, plus there should be more at DNJournal with the .de extension.

ärzte.de - $77,000
reisebüro.de & reise-büro.de $70,000

Just remember if you find a keyword with an accent at the top, it can still be purchased!

You can register .de domains but the registrar will use an appointed administrative contact in Germany for the registration. Some of the registrars use the same person as a contact.

I think it is difficult to sell/transfer a .de domain unless it is from German to German citizen. All the paperwork has to go through the admin contact and I doubt they are very much interested in doing this as they didn't provide an email address.

There isn't much information about it except at the denic website, and it is complicated.

I had some, with great english keywords, but they didn't attract any visitors or revenue so I dropped them.

In Germany, the .de extension in the German language is the most popular.

Hope this helps,

Good luck on your search.

Regards,

Sags
