This is a link to a must see interview of Richard Rosenblatt, CEO of Demand Media, former chairman of MySpace and the very person who sold GreatDomains to Verisign.

Get ready with your niche verticals!!!!!!!!

I had conversation with Demand Media today and on Wednesday next week they will be making a announcement with Verisign with some details regarding their Vision. I will be receiving the press release to post as soon as it becomes final.

This might be the caffiene we have been waiting for! Watch the 3rd video on this blog by Marketwatch titled: Demand Media's strategy

Looking forward to your press release Sanchay - I am a little puzzled by the fact that they will not be consulting with me first before the press release is issued.......

And nice VLOG!! Reminds me of a recent reg I made - IPO.TV.............

Here's a question..... describe the meaning of "niche verticals" in one short sentence......!!

Excellent information. This moves are now flanked by purchase of .tv registry. Only the best times ahead for .tv name space. I am pretty sure he is going to use some nice .tv names for the so called verticals.

My understanding of Verticals is: Relating to or involving all stages from production to sale

Did you read what I posted in my thread:

there will be some stunning parking developments this year. First off Richard Rosenblatt is about to revolutionize monetization of Keyword Domians. he started iMall and sold it for $565 million, then he was hired to turn Myspace from an in debt venture, into a $560 million sale, all within 18 months. His next venture is the one us domainers care about. He read the article "masters of their domian" in business 2.0 and spawned his latest IDEA! He spoke to a bunch of domainers that own 300,000 thousand domains that make 20 million with just 4 employees. As a result, his new plans are to start buying KEYWORD GENERIC NAMES by the MILLIONS, then add his own "myspace" template to each domain- He is creating his own parking/aggregator company that uses web 2.0 technology to create a template that instantly creates a Myspace -like website that features user generated content such as profiles, blogs, and other community driven features. For example, I have Barbecuerecipes.org - high overture but hard to monetize and generate traffic, but the keywords have high overture score, with a myspace type site that would allow people to create a profile, showcase their best recipes, and post their pics of their food. With an instant site like that I could easily monetize even .org. It would get a higher and higher PR from all the user content. Imagine 1 million mini myspaces, you could make billions. His company "Demand" plans to go public late in 2007 with a 2 billion IPO...

Is this what you are talking about... Business 2.0 outlined his entire strategy in their latest issue in an article "Giving the Audience its own Domain"

In the article from business 2.0 they say the exact same things you are talking about. he even says he has not talked about, except to busness 2.0. In fact, in the very title here is a quote from the article-
Richard Rosenblatt helped broker the $580 million sale of myspace. Now he wants to biuld millions of sites like it- this time, in vertical niches.
It sounds to me like the exact same thing you are saying-

Get ready with your niche verticals!!!!!!!!

Business 2.0 got the exclusive because they inspired his new business model.

Demand Media Strategy Questions?

Hi there, I work for Demand Media and SKG suggested I join this forum so I can help answer any questions you might have around our .tv initiative. If I can't answer a question directly, I can find the person who can and come back to you with a response. I don't have a deep domain background, but I do know that our .tv initiative is one of our top priorities and I can do my best to keep this group updated on our partnerships and other developments to drive the growth of this TLD. Thanks.

Today I have had a couple folks contact me with issues around their .tv transfer from verisign (www.tv) to eNom. I am working with the customer service as well as the tech leaders on this transfer to get these problems addressed ASAP. When I know more about what caused these transfer problems, I will update the group.

Thank you Quinn and welcome too, Please find out about the renewal prices being off too. Meaning many here have premiums that when you click add years shows a different renewal price than what they had with www.tv

More News:

eNom has partnered with Google to enable the new domain registration services feature in Google Apps for Your Domain. The feature is available as part of the sign-up process for Google Apps for Your Domain.

โ€œOne of the main objectives in the Demand Media-eNom merger was to expand our world class domain services to leading new media companies,โ€ said Paul Stahura, eNom founder/CEO and president of Demand Media. โ€œThis relationship with Google clearly demonstrates that expanded focus and we are excited to offer Google our leading infrastructure, tools and domain knowledge.โ€

Google Apps for Your Domain is a platform that allows organizations of any size to offer powerful communication and collaboration tools to their users -- and have them all hosted by Google so there's no hardware or software to install or maintain. eNom will power private domain registration and identity protection for a $10 annual fee, and includes domains at .com, .net, .org, .info and .biz.

โ€œWe are excited to partner with an industry leader like eNom who can help ensure that organizations have a great experience getting their own domain,โ€ said Raju Gulabani, director of product management for Google Apps for Your Domain. โ€œItโ€™s important to have their scale, reliability, and customer focus working behind the scenes of Google Apps for Your Domain.โ€

โ€œWe hope that todayโ€™s announcement, combined with the .tv announcement earlier this week, demonstrates our strategy of building a new media company on top of a leading domain registrar platform,โ€ said Richard Rosenblatt, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Demand Media. โ€œWe look forward to rolling out more partnerships and technologies in the coming months.โ€

eNom (www.enom.com) is an ICANN accredited registrar offering world-class Internet domain name services at competitive prices. In business since 1997, eNom specializes in domain name registration and related services, and is the #1 reseller registrar, according to Name Intelligence, with the largest and most active distribution network in the domain industry. eNom currently ranks as the second largest domain name registrar worldwide with nearly 9 million names on its platform.

The Demand Media proprietary media platform powers the company's unique content verticals and highly-trafficked domains and unique content verticals. The Company leverages cutting edge, user-driven publishing, community and monetization tools in its quest to define the next generation of new media companies. The privately held company was founded in May and is based in Santa Monica, CA, with offices in San Francisco and Seattle, WA.
