Hey guys, I'm thinking about trading my bass for a guitar amp and have narrowed my choices down to two:

Crate 33W tube amp (2x12)

Crate 120W solid state amp (2x12)

I am open to all suggestions from you guitar players - I know there are alot of you out there. I have played neither one yet, I am going tomorrow probably and testing them out. What do you guys think? I am leaning toward the VTX because you can have different presets for the two channels, but people keep telling me you cant beat tube sound...

always a Tube amp, Solid State will not give you the tones and sustain that a Tube will give you.

If you really want to have some power and more meat and potatoes sounds from your guitar, I would go with a Peavey or Vox setup, Plug in a DigiTech RP-250 to it, and you will have all you can handle in what ever type of music you play, The DigiTech has it all.

The above is very affordable, And you don't need a studio amp, just to play in your house.

I'm old school, so...tube. It's real.

The solid state stuff is cold, but a good tube amp is like an instrument of its own.
I loved the old Vox amps...

I couldn't agree more... Tube is the way to go. Play them side by side and you'll totally hear the difference - the tube amp gives it such a "real" sound.

Congrats on the future purchase! :D

I'd go with the tube amp myself. Nothing like the sound quality of a good tube amp. Good luck and enjoy!

Ironically I'm selling AmpedGuitars.com right now. So if you buy it you can put a proper poll on there and write about your decision. :sold:

I like tubes, but I've also had some awesome solid state amps. Get them side by side and have a listen. You can always ask the guys over at www.AudioMinds.com about the ups and downs of each.
