Death and domains

So for a couple decades now myself and another guy have been running a site on someone's domain. The owner at the time wasn't using it and we all had the same interest so he said go for it. Every time we've needed him to change details when we moved hosts he'd just do it. No problem.

Now we've been trying to contact him for a year and nothing. The domain will expire in a few months. Maybe he's still alive and kicking and the domain will re-register and everything will carry on as normal. If not then it goes to auction. We contacted GoDaddy to see if there was some way to transfer the domain to our name IF he doesn't pay up, but the rep said it's impossible.

Is it impossible?

Did you have any paper agreements?

If you cant contact him just try and catch the domain when it expires.

I would get a new domain ASAP and follow the Google procedure to redirect the traffic to a new domain while you still have the chance.

Sounds like something you need a good lawyer (or Private Investigator)
