Dan.com has requested a W9 form for US customers as part of the new 1099K requirements for the tax year of 2024. I have received a couple emails from Dan support requesting that a W9 form be submitted. They are basically asking customers to send them this form via email.
The problem is that the the W9 form contains sensitive personal information. Email is a not a secure form of transfer for this documentation. This is security risk for customers. When requesting this type of information, DAN should provide customers with a secure transfer method. This is really a liability for the customers as well as Dan/GoDaddy.
I am not comfortable and am unwilling transfer sensitive personal information this way.
@DAN.COM @LaszloSchenk @GoDaddy any comments? Can you provide your customers with a secure transfer method?
PS: I have also reached out directly to Dan.com customer support and they told me that email is the only method they currently have for transfer.
