Neither are better. Why would google check your code and say "right this site uses divs, they must be more relevant for that keyword. Rank them first". It's crazy talk.

A simple search with any popular keyword will yield top ten results with roughly a 50/50 split of div and table designed layouts.

Just use what is best and quickest for you. Divs are becoming a bit of a standard but the fact of the matter is it will make no difference. If your website has accessible good content then who cares if it has been built with divs, tables, flash or even 10 thousand frames.

I believe the point is, the fact keywords are easier to pick out and such in div and css. In all honestly i would like to learn, as normal i learned on tables and still use today. But as many have said times are changing and people like the ease of changing all the files of the site from one file.

It's got it's pluses and minizises such as FF bugging at times ect anyways i do have a request that someone post some good tuts on learning div and css for a mid class developer.

Thanks guys

div

The trend is going to div. But it is not a shame to develop current websites with tables, cause I think they make not so much problems to older browsers.

From a theoretical standpoint I agree that tables are rather intended to display data than to be used to structure the layout, however practise shows that CSS' support for many basic things is still that non-existent that tables are very often the only viable solution. Layouts which can be easily accomplished with tables often require horrible CSS workarounds.
