I am just wondering what you guys think an example post is:

"Div are the new generation and are pretty much the norm"
"Tables have much more support"

I personally like tables as they are easier to use. But since DIVs are becoming the norm I guess I have to learn more.

Tables are to eat at divs are divine. JJ. I think tables are a little confuising unless you are using them to display data from queries i would suggest sticking to css and the div's that go along with it.

DIV's are good for CSS based designs. But for normal design, tables would be better.

Hrm, tables aren't easier to use at all.

I vote for DIV, it is the norm, it's more practical, it makes the coding MUCH nicer, and IMO is just all around better. :tu:

DIV are better. Easy to correct your page in future, clean and clear code and, ofcourse, much better for SEO.

DIV and CSS. Clean code, easy to change design, much better for accessibility. Once you get over the learning curve of divs, you will never want to use tables for layout again.

Putting information in a table implies that it is tabular data; that's what the various tags associated with tables mean. To use tables for layout is to misuse these tags.

Doing so was once forgivable because it was a necessary hack to achieve effects that couldn't be achieved any other way. It isn't necessary any more, so it isn't forgivable any more. Anyone still using tables for layout needs to catch up.

Oh, you pressed the nerve button here. As I used to do web design all using <Table> I've left for a while, and the new generation of tableless design came up. I am really confused to whether continue with table design, or convert to tableless design.

And If I am to convert to the new G of web design, how much time do I need to learn all about the new <DIV> method?

It's confusing to an old designer here. But I certainly welcome the change, If it will be fully supported and If I will have the resources, enough resources to master it.

So I vote for Table design now..and I love this thread so much!
