Create icon?

hi... how do i create an icon? i have the image to use but not sure how to turn it into an icon...

What do you mena Icon? If you are talking about a Desktop Icon, just go into Paint and save the Images as "InsertImageNameHere.ico

yeah.. a desktop icon.. so you just use paint on win?

Yeah and Save the File as .ico not .gif or .jpg

get a trial copy of Microangelo. It's one of the best icon generation programs.

so hang on, do i need this plugin or not? can i just save the image as an ico in paint? can i do it in photoshop?

You can save as a .ico in paint, but it doesn't work completely right. I had an icon with a white background, but it shows up as a black background when using paint.

yeah the plug-in is for photoshop been using it and it never gave me any problems

hiya okay i am trying out that photoshop plugin... but what size do i need to create the image for the icon...? and are there any other settings that i need to know...

i did it as RGB, left it at 8 bits/channel (which seemed to be my only option), and i made it at 48x48 but when i tried it out it looked crappy...

yeah i have read the ones about creating a url icon but this is for a desktop icon... so im not sure what size to create it and any other settings...

You dont need teh Plugin, just do what i said.
