Reg fee undeveloped, and here's why:

First of all, I'd say this is a perfect example of how imperfect estibot 2.0's appraisals are, or any automated appraisals for that matter. I love the tool, but it is just that - a tool. If you look up crazylyrics.com it shows the value as $7,700 - do you really think the co.uk should be worth more?

Putting that aside for a moment. Let's examine the search numbers. The reason people are searching globally over 40,000 times/mo (exact) for the phrase "crazy lyrics" is because they are looking for lyrics to songs titled "Crazy" (the two most popular being by Gnarles Barkley and Aerosmith). Now, you can't copywrite song titles, which is why there are a bunch of songs called Crazy. However, clearly the actual lyrics are copywritten material, merely by the fact that they are used in commerce (live acts, song sales, etc). It is irrevelent that you probably won't find it in a TM database somewhere.

So, that leaves the question of what will you do with the site? Here is where there could potentially be some value. But, you're going to have to be very creative to find a way to keep people on your website once they arrive since really all they are looking for is the lyrics to a song called "Crazy," which you can't provide them with legally while monetizing your site. Not that it can't be done, but it will be tough.

Back to the traffic for a sec. Remember that this is a co.uk, which means the local search numbers are what matters. In the United States the phrase "Crazy Lyrics" is searched 14,800 times/mo (exact search). In the UK it is searched just 1,900 times/mo - not exactly the stuff of legend.

So, I wish you could luck with the name, but remember that the people who'll end up at your site are going to have a strong impulse to leave upon finding out that you can't help them solve their Karaoke night dilemma.

Good luck!

Thanks for the clarification there. What I should have said is that you will be penalized in the search rankings outside of the UK (and helped in the UK, theoretically - or at least not penalized. I've heard conflicting stuff on this one). So, you're right that it can be made up for with hard work, but it stinks starting out with a cctld handicap like that.

So, Lucas, I'll sell you the unhandicapped domain name wackylyrics.com for the low price of $2,984.

Just kidding, it is still available at this moment for fresh reg.

GL!
