Cost of developing software that supports WebGl ?

Hi ,

Wondering if anyone has an idea about this ? A friend and one of her coder friends might be doing a project in the future. The project will be a browser/software where 3d objects/assets can be executed. I haven't done a lot of digging on it and might come back with other questions.

I guess I'm not only asking monetary cost. Also time / feasibility ?

I tried to view a WebGl-based site with my Macbook Pro which kept crashing, is it to do with Graphics Card? wonder what requirements there are for it to run smoothly.
