"Copy and Paste" Welcome messages are Spam ...

Expect Spam warnings for each and every incident.

We've warned people about this in the past , Enough is enough. Do not post the same welcome message over and over to run up your Post count. It's Childish and Lazy.

I am feeling guilty.

Yesterday, I messaged about 20 new users (with no intention of spamming , no marketing / advertising) , and then one member made me realized it!

Suggestion : For welcome center, to have ltd. # of posts for a user in a given time duration. No need to keep a tab on it.

Welcome the move !

thank you so very much. there's nothing worse than clicking "new posts" and having a full page of welcome threads from the same person.

That's the worst thing you can think of?

I disagree with outlawing cut and paste hello's. Most new members just like to see several hello's and could care less if they are trite.

Its not my forum so I'll abide by the rules going forward.

A unique message is better because it promotes a "quality" attitude when browsing and posting on the forum. If they see people just copy and pasting messages they will assume they can do that and run up their post count.

I vote for a zero post count in the welcome center. Like the contest forum.

having other people's disingenuousity (definitely not a word) inconvenience others should be stopped... especially if it's inconveniencing me! :p

and yes, it's the worst thing i can think of because i'm not all that imaginative.

I agree to the Zero Post count thing.

This is a business forum and not everyone can welcome each member with a unique message. Also like myself, people like to welcome in batches as that's easier and more convenient to do.

It is best to turn the welcome section as a zero post count, so that there's no guilt factor involved.

But I guess this isn't a suggestion / discussion thread but a sticky to guidelines.
...So is copy pasting the text but setting in the name of the new member okay? :)

I guess we could have it where the post count is zero and it does not show up in "New Post". So then people are free to welcome people how they wish but the post count will be zero and the clutter will be down. Although this still does not resolve the spam issue it will take care of the clutter issue.

Yay for the no Copy/Paste

NAY for the zero post count - Not everyone has a copy and paste message just ready to C/P into every new thread, I myself didn't even know people did that until now.

I actually wasn't aware posting in the Welcome forum raised your post count.. I always assumed it didn't.
