"Cool mom" gets 30 years...

"Cool mom" Silvia Johnson was sentenced today in Jefferson County to 30 years in prison, on a host of charges, including contributing to the delinquency of minors, sexual assault and violating a restraining order.

Johnson, 41, told an investigator she got drunk with two teenage boys and had sex with them because she wanted to be a "cool mom." As part of the plea agreement struck in July, two felony drug charges against Johnson were dropped.

I dunno.. Sentencing laws seem out of whack in this country.. you get 10-15 for manslaughter (and sometimes less), and 30 years for something like this. Not that this doesn't deserve some kind of punishment, but where's the parity?

Here's another point.. she was facing 58 years and they reduced it to 30 by dropping two drug related charges..

My point is there should be some parity in sentencing and less wheeling and dealing at times as well.

A guy embezzles $30 million and gets a year on a prison farm.. someone else gets popped with a few joints on his 3rd offense and gets a mandatory 20 years..

And I agree what she did was wrong, but I think 30 years is excessive.

Thats a bit harsh I think, 30 Years, But i Agree some punishment was needed..

The 30 year sentenced is a little much, considering rapist get off with far less jail time. The system does need to be overhauled in many areas... and this is a prime example of why it needs to be overhauled.

well rich people usually have high-paid lawyers who can drag the case out for ages. what good is it if the hearing is abt 10 years after the crime is commited?

Well the fact of the matter is, she did it with kids (which is why it is so excessive)

Also, she will probably be out on parole in aobut 5-15 years (good behavior etc.)
