We've all come across some CMS, be it PhpNuke, or vBindex. But there are a few others. Recently I've been working with NCaster, a CMS designed for gaming sites. But I just don't know how to work the damn thing, its a complete enigma. I've installed it, and now I don't know how to create layout templates and, or display them, its nuts!

Maybe you can recommend some good CMS systems, ones which allow me to have articles, news, reviews and specific content sections which would be relatively skinable, and so that I could convert this site: http://www.thegamingnet.com/index.php to a CMS powered site.

mambo is way 2 fiddly and hard to use, even for advanced people.

There are many more better systems out there.

The best thing to do if things don't work out is, make your own or hire someone to do it. I am in the process of making a CMS for my gaming site, and theres no way I would use premade cms's for it.

You paid $80 just for the install? Or for customisations too?
It can't be that hard to install. And if you have fantastico you can get is set up with a few clicks and keystrokes.

I didn't like Mambo, purely because she wasn't designed for gaming sites. I've repatched NCaster, because apparently my copy was broken, heh. But now I've a new problem.

I want a WYSIWYG editor which I can use to open html files and save them in a folder, all using the WYSIWYG editor. Anyone know a way?

I don't believe in paying scripters to do ditty little jobs. :guilty:
Write me an SSI like vBulletin and I might consider sparing some cash from my tightly locked wallet. :hehe:

RE: Phpupdate.

Ok, I installed phpupdate, it doesn't look too bad, its actually come the closest to being what I need. But its buggy. It won't save my html files when I edit them.
