Hi,

I am considering a website and was wondering if its a terrible idea to have a domain name that has 2 or more words, and 2 of the words end and then begin with the same letter.

For example:

Visittexas.com compared to visitexas.com
OR
Domainname.com compared to domainame.com

Assuming this is not a misspelling situation does the 2nd version of each name come anywhere near the first version? If I intended to develop this particular site would it always be second tier to the 1st version?

Thanks for input!

Domainname.com is definitely better than Domainame.com, same goes for VisitTexas.com versus VisiTexas.com.

That said, I would really recommend trying to come up with a less confusing choice than either of these -- neither make a particularly strong name for development. If you're going to invest a considerable amount of time + effort in development, considering an aftermarket purchase may not be a bad idea.

TexasTravel.com, TexasVacations.com, ... Lots of possibilities here, however it does seem like most good choices are already registered. I'd recommend throwing out a few offers via whois -- who knows, maybe you can get something decent on the cheap.

If you replace Texas with the name of a town/city which may better describe the main focus of your development, it may be easier to land a good name without having to resort to an aftermarket purchase.

Good Luck!

I agree, VisitTexas is better than Visitexas, but neither are great. These domains are for parking or mini-sites, if you're considering a website, a legitimate, meaningful website then find a great domain, and don't worry so much about keywords. If you just want to throw together a quick mini-site so you can set it and forget it, then register something like Visitexas.com.

Thank you both for your help.

Just an FYI the name "expiredomainname.com" is ironically, about to expire on TDNAM in the $5 listing. It expires in 5 hours. If anyone is interested!
