Compression Tools

I have been pretty dedicated to website design for several months and have now just stumbled upon compression tools for code. My question is why aren't these tools talked about? I searched these forms for the word compression and compressor and only found about a dozen for each term, most not even relevant to what I was searching for. They seem very useful and in my case can shave off a second and a half of loading time for dial up users and save about 20kb of bandwidth from the average visit.

I guess a lot of people just don't think about compressors, because the majority of us have DSL / Cable nowadays. I know I havn't thought about compressing my HTML code or images until you brought it up... :hehe:
