Common word .nets have any value?

I'm wondering if common words, or combinations of two words commonly used together, in the dot net variant carry any value worth registering.

I understand the value is in the name itself, however generically speaking on words that you've probably used at some point today.

Just to use examples that are already registered, things such as coolphone.net, or mistakes.net.

Also, how about uncommon words in the past tense of the .com variant?

Developed they have some value.
But from what I see, the reseller market is skimpy on .net domains.

To me a .net is worth about 5-30% of a .com depending on the keyword.
