Hello, I have for sale a great financial keyword:

COMMODITIES.CC

It`s for auction in the auction section but it seems no one has been interested in the first 8 of the 10 days. I lowered the reserve at only $100.....but I`m wondering if it`s because no one sees the auction or what. :td: I had to pay a domainer for this one , it was not a hand reg.

Could someone please express their opinion on this one?

It was listed at Great Domains for US $15,000 but I`m going to offer it here for much much less.

It was listed at Great Domains for US $15,000 but I`m going to offer it here for much much less.

Why?

As for value, I think it is worth $1,000-$2,000 to right buyer.

This is a perfect example of market value vs appraised value. Simply because Great Domains listed this domain for $15,000 doensnt mean that is what someone is willing or going to pay for it (as clearly defined by your inability to receive an offer even at $100 reserve)

The issue here is several fold - .cc has just never taken off. Like many other random ccTLD's there are some sales, but thats just it. There are only some. It does not have the solid history that many of the other gTLD's or even a few ccTLDs have (.tv, co.uk, .de, ect).

I personally am not much a fan of .cc - Ive seen quite a few top keywords go for just over reg fee in resale. I would love to see this TLD do better, but without more exposure, and without some better sales history, its not moving anywhere.

Hi Justin, thanks for your reply and congrats on beeing a new mod!

I agree on what you wrote , but .cc was promoted a lot some time ago as "Commercial"

How much would Commodities.com cost? $1,000,000 ? Probably more?

A new business related to Commodities would have this one for $10,000 ? Make sense?

Thanks

I think that cc is way undervalued right now, what you're seeing is a reflection of that, also there's a certain lack of trust in cc given that icann looks down on countries that sold their namespace.

One of the issues with .cc is I see a few different cross promotions. I do often times see it being used as "Credit Card'. However, I do understand where you are coming from, the problem I see is how many ccTLD's are out there, with these uber premium keywords avail, and how well are they selling.

You may be correct, perhaps this name would fetch 10,000 on the open market. The problem is that a business with capital to buy domains, (especially US based) wants to buy .com - they havnt even heard of .cc

well....then I`d like to know who did buy the names listed above...like in June:

$7,899 2007-06-13 Sedo
eMail.cc

Surely it was not a reseller....

To be honest I did not check any of them but since it was listed in your NameBio , I thought it was a genuine sale.... :td:

If its listed there, it has been reported as a sale. But I think the issue here is that just because it reached a reasonable sale price, doesnt mean it wasnt purchased by a reseller.

I sampled a few of the domains from the list, to see how many were end-user domains and how many parked. I sampled about 6 and it was close to 50/50.

Then if there were resellers buying average keywords for those 4 figures prices I`d say that it`s good.

I'd call it speculative.
