1) I know 'www.widget.com.my is a 2nd level domain name but is 'www.widget.my a top level domain name? .my being the extension for a country.

2) Which has more priority in regards to search engine ranking? 'www.widget.com or 'www.widget.my?

3) In terms of domain value, which has higher value? 'www.widget.com or 'www.widget.my?

4) Which domain would you remember better? Which website would you type in if both have the same information? 'www.widgetextra.com or 'www.widget.my? (ps. because generic .com names are 99.99% taken, therefore my .com domains are made up of 2 generic terms.)

FYI, my web content is universal and not restricted to a local area.

.com tend to be worldwide based int erms of SEO
.my tend to be based geographically based better if you are in the country of .my

Both will have potential depending on how well you develop them.

Wouldn't it be easier to remember 1 generic rather than 2 generic that doesn't make sense when combined?

Currently, .my is not available...they only open .com.my for registration.

.my is the top level domain from Malaysia. It only allows third level registrations, hence you couldnt register a mydomain.my domain but would have to choose out of the existing second level domains.

There is no difference.

This depends to whom you would sell it. But generally the .com domain.

Unless the site would be well known international users would definitely better remember .com. For Malaysian users it would depend on your targetted user group.

definately .com this its a must buy if u plan to develop ur website
then .com.my when it gets famous within malaysia but bear in mind u need a company to register .com.my ..not any individual can register .com.my but only companies in malaysia. n the extension .my is closed for registration right now..still in discussion to open it back to public to register but at the moment highly unlikely..
