$0, coinbase.com is already a thing. They own the trademark too.

Actually I just remembered "Coinbase" is a general term used in bitcoin.
The coinbase is the content of the 'input' of a generation transaction.[/QUOTE] So as long as the domain is not used to confuse or steal customers of coinbase.com (e.g. another bitcoin exchange), there is no trademark infringement.

As far as I know, coinbase is a commonly used term in cryptocurrency and the company that owns the trademark basically hijacked the term and got it trademarked.

The TM and associated risks aside, it's a great domain and goes well with the .io TLD.

Thanks for your input. Can you estimate a number value for this domain?

They didn't hijack anything. It's smart biz to TM your brand. The OP has a domain worth $0

They trademarked a term that already existed as it is part of the Bitcoin infrastructure.
Coinbase.io can be used as a domain for a business not relating to how coinbase.com operates. (Bitcoin buying/selling/trading/etc)

If I used the domain as an informational site about how bitcoin works, they would have no legal grounds to acquire the name from me.

They have several TMs. You have no way to use.

Off course they hijacked it. They trademarked a term that already existed and made that their brand. Yes, it's business and they did nothing illegal. However, I don't consider that to be smart in any way. Each to their own....
