BizX.CO on Sedo auction at $1,000 (to the mods: not mine)

Interesting. If you do a search for .co names in the Sedo marketplace auctions section, you'll see that this is one of a number of names all with one $1000 bid and all owned by the same registrant.

Just more craziness in the .co aftermarket. I'm suspicious of just about every purported sale or bid when it comes to .co names. Some of course are legit but there are a lot of domainers out there with a vested interest in pumping the extension to draw in other domainer suckers.

Perhaps, someone is willing to pay that much for this name and all the others with $1k bids but how likely is that.

why would someone pay Sedo a ton of commissions to "pump" the extension? there is something strange going on there but it's the first time I've seen something like that. could be money laundering or ??

It's odd but it would be silly to do that to "pump" the extension...nice try, though ;)

It's probably bizxchange. They own that and bizx in what looks like many different extensions. bizx .com, .net, .org, .me, .info, .biz etc. all the same company, just getting their name in every extension that they can.

Nah it's not a legitimate bid. I can't believe sedo let all those fake bids through. It makes them look terrible IMO.

Could be. That particular bid seems to have come in a few hours before all the other bids which all were made around the same time. Bizx does appear to hold the name in other extensions so this may be a defensive acquisition by them. The rest of the bids still seem strange.

Travels.CO (this is a big one) on Sedo auction starting at $3,000. This has nothing to do with the bunch of shady bids.

As usual, for the mods, not my name.

Question, why is this a "big one"? Travel.co, I can see, but this name strikes me as rather mediocre in this extension.

Do I really need to explain why Travels is a big keyword and not a mediocre one? Travel is a huge keyword, not just big.

You just typed those 2 words differently. Travel is big, travels is not.

Exact Global Match:

travel - 550,000

travels - 18,100

big difference, Travel.co would be decent

GAKT isn't the only thing that has to be taken into account, otherwise we would be Estibot, not humans. [personal injury] has an exact search volume of 18,100 and it's a big keyword as well. Travel, as I said, isn't big, it would be reductive to call it so. It's just one of the top 15-20 keywords, like insurance or poker.

I guess you meant is instead of isn't. Yes, travel is big, not travels. Personal injury, even tho having the same exact match, actually makes sense, not so much travels with the .co. Travels company doesn't sound right.

Travels.co selling for $3k is equivalent to a scratch off ticket...it's dumb luck!

It wasn't registered until 2 months after public offering which shows little to no demand for the domain. I congratulate the seller for being able to move this one for a profit. The buyer will surely lose :$: unless they have a nice development plan!

Would you reg/buy it?

Hi, I know of some single word .co domains that are available with 100K to 30M searches per month (G keyword tool). (I should check the exact.) They are "dictionary" words, so some specific product names, chemical terms, adjectives or verbs etc. But they are not words like "gold" or "telephone" or "coffee". I think some of them are brandable and so on. I checked them in epik/estibot appraisal and got $200-$2000+, but that's not reliable. I'm still not sure If I should reg them... I don't want to reg something I can't sell.

Good example would be doorKnobs.co (which is already taken, but it has that specific and small product feel to it).

I was looking for some complete list of .co domain sales, but couldn't find one.

I would'nt register any .co at this point. Stick to the aftermarket for a better chance at success.

At this point I would be very surprised if there were many .CO with commercial value that could be hand registered.

I would stick to the aftermarket as well.

Don't have money for aftermarket...
Lol, I just found one really good domain name with .co :D but it's more of a collectible type of domain, cause it's illegal product.
And another one with over 300k exact searches.

"Travels" is one of those words that does not need to be plural. It is a tense with very limited commercial or branding value.

The seller needs several more bids to even break even after fees.

Travels.co $2,830 Oct 10 .CO Landrush

Well, it is better to save your money then. Handregging .CO at this point is just a way to lose money.

Outside a handful of isolated sales, nothing but the best quality keywords/brands have much interest in .CO

But I wanna make some ;). Btw how is it with buying "brand" names? For example I saw that lots of iPad3 domains are not registered. Is it illegal to actually sell those?

Yeah, those are TM issues.

When I say "Brand" I am not referring to famous brands. I am referring to keywords with value more as brands than keywords.

Like Dolphin.co for example.

I highly recommend that you research all you can regarding domains before you buy any. It will save you lots of money in the future :)

Yeah I saw that sale, but can't actually find any other .co sales. It's sad that you can't search for "nothing" + tld at Sedo. I would be awesome to actually order it by bids and see what domains are hot.
Just to be on topic, there are 20772 available 3 character .co domains. (No lll or nnn.)

I have some domains, and I want to buy some quality ones. For now I'm doing specific bulk checks... For example yesterday one domainer wanted me to check all the available l-l.co and l-l-l.com. I made a list in exchange for $25. So before I buy any domain name in the future I'll do all the checking I can.
But I still don't know where to find historic .co sales. :(
