@ Micro

The sky is falling again. That fear-mongering is quite the craft...

BTW, this isn't a political thread.

BTW, I was making reference to the SuperBowl .co commercial.

I might mind you that your prejudicial colors are showing again.

This TLD is a Country Code (ccTLD) for the Republic of Columbia and under the control of that Country's government.

If you do business on this domain, you are in essence opening a business in a third-World Country and exposing yourself to considerable risk. There are no price caps on annual increases for ccTLDs. There are also no guarantees that registration will remain open to commercial/western interests or that the current terms governing registrations will remain constant. No major International company, or any other competent business with this knowledge, would make .CO their primary anchor domain.

A business operating on .CO is a business ultimately operating under the authority and control of the government of Columbia. To me this is not so sexy. IMO.

Well till now several thousands of .com .net .org domains have been confiscated by the us goverment. I havent heard of ANY SINGLE .co domain beeing confiscated by the colombian government. So purely mathematically: The probability of investment loss for CNO domains is ENDLESSLY HIGHER than for .co domains.

I was thinking that .co was a top level generic domain now i see it is a top level country domain only. Why some more value than say a .in ?

Have put a pretty good .co on auction here at NP.

Let's see what the reseller market is like.

I thought .CO would get a little farther than it has at this point. They holding-on on the best names, and there is no light at the end of the tunnel for developers.

Now, when I close my eyes and envision domains with .IN, first thing on my mind is children working in factories and slums everywhere. I have the same vision with .SO and other domains (and I have a couple of those).

With the .CO, I had a vision of COmpanies and COunties flourishing throughout the planet. But then I realized I had my eyes closed...

...With her caste system(being challenged by a quasi-democratic government) and other cultural situations aside, India has a burgeoning middle class with ever increasing higher educational levels.

This translates into opportunities with the .in extension now and down the road. The fact that domain names in the extension can be had for as little as 3.99 at one registrar, does not diminish the fact that eventually they will be used by many both in India and abroad.

Add to that the second language of India is English, you have a potential audience of which the extension comes in handy. Note the operative word potential.

India at present has approx 1.1 billion people in the country and is expected to surpass China in terms of population by 2030 as China's population begins to dwindle.

My analysis is that India is the "dark horse" in the competition and may surprise more than a few who thought otherwise.

Remember also that India, even with it's huge disparities and contradictions, still has a more stable situation than the volatile Columbian government and their drug cartel adversaries.

That fact alone gives more credence to .in over .co, at this point in time anyway.

Just my analysis of the situation at hand.

This is a hoax perpetrated by a few sharp business people. The general masses are also unaware of the dangers of fluoride in the water supply or the mind crippling effects of vaccines. I bet there are even a few unaware that Newt is an anti-american globalist and that aluminum and barium is being sprayed into their air supplies.

I don't know which jungle you've been hanging out in, but here's the apolitical Colombia. This Colombia looks pretty daunting, doesn't it?:

Not a bad representation of what .co has to offer...:tri:

...unfortunately those, "apolitical " gals have NOTHING to do with the governance of the extension...they are there to sell the domain according to the principles of marketing. MG has a point that you pass up because you like what your libido can grasp, not what your brain needs to analyze.

Outside of making the extenTion look appealing, much like was done with cars in the 60s and 70s, they are basically selling props having nothing to do with the reality of the extension itself...

I have said I do not have anything against the extension having one name, but look past the candy when going for a meal and look instead at the nutrional facts of the extension. They are not the same.

...CAVEAT EMPTOR...

I guess you didn't see the 3 guerillas vs 3 women thing. I don't see what guerillas have to do with .co either, especially on this thread. Just a bunch of paranoia, IMO.

Yes, it's good to have a strong libido. It will serve you well in all you endeavours.

Nutritional facets, I think that's taking things a bit too seriously, hmmmm?

Paranoia is a mental disorder characterized by systematized delusions. Investing or developing in this extension without a thorough understanding of ccTLD is un-willful ignorance. IMO.

That could be news from any inner city in the world. If someone wants to find something, they will find it. It depends on intention. Birds of a feather flock together.

Paranoia is a mental disorder characterized by systematized delusions. Investing or developing in this extension without a thorough understanding of ccTLD is un-willful ignorance. IMO.

Where did you come up with that psycho-babble? There is no "systemization" with paranoia. It's emotionally based. You seem to be referring to neuroticism which is characterized by systemic, nervous delusions carried out in a repetitive manner. Sounding eloquent at the expense of fact is not such a good practice. There is no such thing as "unwillful ignorance". Not only is it redundant but bombastic as well.

Fear-mongering reeks of paranoia. If everything is going to the crapper, as you so "eloquently" suggest, you won't mind me taking your domains off your hands for $5 since they will be obviously worthless to you. PM me and we can get 'er done.

Don't smear campaigners have anything better to do with their time? Such cheap tactics...

BTW, if you are from the US and believe you live in the "safest" place in the world, think again. Canada is considered a "safe" place but living there can tell you a different story.

Gives Silicon City a whole new meaning.

No, it doesnt. There IS a difference between silicon and silicone AND there exists actually a Silicone Valley already:
San Fernando Valley.
