Canada is considered a "safe" place but living there can tell you a different story.

You'll have to clarify that. I can't make out what you are saying in response to my post..

He's saying that Canada is as boring as you've heard, eh

(Though don't get caught downtown when they lost in the Stanley Cup finals!)

Anything interesting guys?

Not much it would seem.

The only news I can bring here is that a very persistent low-baller came for Pisces.co at Sedo :D

:| I did think the person was from NP. Can't be too sure. (You can own up via PM lol)

I see the owner of MegaUpload changed his surname to Dotcom. Any of the .CO Veterans willing to do something similar, like use the surname Dotco? :D

It's interesting because you seem to get quite a few offers on that one.

I believe that is between me, and the low-baller.

AccidentClaims.co currently at Sedo auction $1000 (to moderators: not mine)

I'm thinking this extention could fade away after the registry auction at Sedo. My prediction is that very few domains will sell. The registry could avoid catastrophe if they choose to move their inventory along the lines of .tv. Dot TV even had the balls to auction off loads of 2 character domains at no reserve. Now they will collect yearly renewals for the long haul.

The .co registry fails to see the upside of generating renewal income. Instead, they're hoping to get big paydays on individual names which spells trouble IMO.

What auction are you talking about? Anyway I don't think so, my personal opinion is that the total number of .CO registrations will grow very slowly but steadily, but nothing compared to .com of course.

Sorry I guess it's not auction format but the domains are listed at http://sedo.co/

The prices are way too high. Doom and gloom for .co with this approach. A superbowl commercial from godaddy isn't going to help either. This is classic .mobi IMO.

It's difficult to draw conclusions with new TLDs. Because of the business model and the money backing it up, there really is nothing to compare it to. I'm sure the registry has it's goals (1 mill more regged each year) and the aftermarket will follow accordingly. As the poet said, it's slow growth. There will be no "extraordinary" paydays here. Good paydays, yes. Extraordinary, no. The person who sold OnlineCasino.co is probably one of the biggest winners, at this point, but that is more the exception than the rule.

If someone is selling fairly nice .co in the $2000-3000 range at the moment, that's doing quite well, IMO.

Yes, it looks like they're not letting them go for cheap.

Yes the goal is obvious...make money!

No chance in the world that a million new registrations will happen each year. I doubt that the registry will gain a million new registrations at all. The numbers will level off sort of like .mobi and that will be it.

Anyone have the total number of registered .co currently?

Yes, it looks like they're not letting them go for cheap.

You mean they're not letting them go at all. Nobody will pay those prices. May as well ask a million dollars each.

They have f***i*gmachines.co listed for 10,000 USD lol With country names like france.co at the top for 150k

I disagree that a registry needs to let out all their hold names to the highest bidder. What so domainers can buy them and park/crappy wordpress them? Holding on to assists until someone pays a premium or until the economy gets better is a good strategy imo

It would be interesting to take a look at the statistics. Who's the NP member who monitors these numbers? Kate?

That's what I think. They're waiting for either the namespace getting more solid or the economy becoming stronger.
