What does .cn mean and which country does it come from?

Ok just found out it stands for China are there any legal restrictions in buying these domain names?

Acording to a domain register, it says it's open to world wide marketplace.

For $2 a year it's not a bad deal.

So i am sure that the chinesse goverment has some control of it, but like many other country codes you schould be able to register.

No restrictions on domains, except under .gov.cn and .edu.cn see:

Interestingly CNNIC is trying to get .?? (.com in Chinese) introduced- which may have a big impact on .cn names (both ascii and IDN names)
