Recently got into a conversation about .io names.

On a purely factual basis I can see that some 1 word .io names are valuable but I haven't seen sales that consist of more than 1 word.

I'd be interested to know if anyone sees decent value in MobileWallet?

I don't personally buy the whole theory that .io is ideal for startup companies.. why..? because there are more great names available than .com or .net??.. well that's obvious.

Anyway let's hear what you think.

.IO's are not ideal for start up companies, that's just how it's marketed. Any start up can be on any extension, it doesn't matter. Just the simple fact there's more .io's available in the keywords or brand you may want, and that it's a cctld google doesn't peg as a geo.

IMO, MobileWallet would be a harder sale. There's not enough sales to stray away from 1 worders. I personally like .io's, but they're a hyped extension w/ a value based off of a handful(s) of sales. Great domain for development though.

I think you're too deep into it to realize you've proven your own point with regard to it being "ideal for startup companies". As you've pointed out, many relevant terms can be captured for reg fee, so how does that not make sense to you?

Agree there haven't been publicly released sales of two word names of any relevance. There could be some that haven't been released; likely there aren't many of consequence. That said, I think mobilewallet.io is a great name. Think you can get xxxx to the right buyer right now, and xx,xxx if you hold onto it. It's just that the renewal fees are high on .io. And as I'm sure you're aware, mobile payments are the undeniable future of commerce, at least for the "forseeable" future...

Afterthoughts: Regarding the discussion this was inspired by, I think my acquisition is valuable due to it being utterly unique for a two worder in this extension. As I mentioned, quite a few in that specific niche (cryptocurrency) are established brands on .io. And as I also pointed out, it makes for easier integration / consistency into an existing / planned vertical. What's more, there's a six figure .com sale six months ago to compare the name to & the market is rife with new wallets coming to market every week. Not saying your registration is terrible, because as I outlined above, it clearly isn't. I like it. For me, there's value to be had. It's generic, descriptive, and nails a category that's going to see astronomical growth. I just find it a bit strange how you've taken the .io discussion and turned it into some sort of personal crusade, essentially trashing the extension in a variety of areas & threads and then registering one. Not a personal attack by any means, merely my honest observations. I think you're a cool dude, you speak your mind. I'm just not sure why this specific issue has caused such a reaction.

@Jeeps, I'm not bashing the extension at all otherwise I wouldn't of ever registered this name. I wasn't very familiar with the extension at all until a couple of days ago. I still don't agree that it's ideal for startups UNLESS your wanting to get a good name CHEAP with an extension that performs well in a search engine. That's why I was going back and forward on whether to register this name. If the marketing ploy for this extension is to attract startups, then essentially people are not willing to pay a lot of money for most of these names which gives it little force in the marketplace. Hence we don't see any sales that have more than one word. You get what I'm trying to say? .. Having said this, I have done enough research to believe that it's worth taking a gamble due to the possibilities of the extension continuing to grow in popularity...I posted the appraisal and added my thoughts just because i'm very curious to know what others think...
In terms of my opinion on your name bitcoinwallet, I hope it sells for as much as that other guy said it would, but if you were to receive an offer in the high XXX I would surely take it. (just my personal opinion though)

And hey man, I have no problems with you speaking your mind. I hope I didn't piss you off mate haha! I also hope you get plenty of sales like I said before... Your an intelligent guy and everyone has their own opinions. I'd love to hear other peoples point of views as well though, because there are some very knowledgeable people here (along with those who think they are as well of course).

Thanks ;)

No hard feelings at all. Little actually pisses me off, maybe I came off that way when I honestly didn't mean to. Like I said I was just a bit confused, that's all really. So my apologies if so, I enjoy a good debate as much as the next guy around here & try to be a reasoned critical thinker, yanno? Reading what you said, that makes more sense now. I was just tryng to comprehend what was going on, it kinda threw me for a loop for a bit there.

But I don't think it was a marketing ploy, I think the market itself just flocked to it as a short, recognizable extension where good terms were still available and others followed suit. If you look at some older blogs/content via search engine on the extension, you'll find some interesting reads (shut down my PC and on my mobile / too wiped to find them atm).

Honestly think it's a solid name you've got, whether it sells now or you hold onto it for a while. Much of the game, IMHO, is about creating your own "luck" so to speak, as there are [obv] millions of options when it comes to a domain. So acting at the most opportune time, being vigilant to find & match that perfect buyer for your domain, and so on. And I hear you man, believe me.
