Hi NamePros community,

I very new to buying domains, most of my first purchases I have realised are pretty much junk and am now trying to get as much knowledge as I can before I buy many more, but I still check domain lists on expireddomains and came across this and it stood out as it is a single dictionary word.

Is x worth anything? I had another unrelated but similarly long dictionary word that I sold on GD for £200 so I'm hoping this might be worth something too.

Your advice is greatly appreciated, many thanks!

I can't really see a clear purpose for this one, what kind of business could use it and why somebody would even want to buy it from you. Just because it's a dictionary keyword doesn't make it usable.

Thanks for your feedback Kate, I noticed on namebio a number of domains that have sold which are also ending in '-ly', so when I bought it I was thinking that there might be intrinsic value behind the domain simply due to it being a dictionary word.

It doesn't always have to have a purpose. Scooping up rare keyword dot coms will be beneficial if you would say hold them awhile for instance due to being rare. But I understand your sentiment with end users for sure.

There used to be a strong market for any legit dictionary word .com since the total of them was under 500K in English.

Not sure if there's still people speculating on them, but any dictionary word .com used to trade high xxx to low xxxx

The market is probably softer today

So these used to be decent drops to catch

I agree...had quite of few similar to this once and was never able to move/sell any. It used to be the rage to get any dictionary word but there has to be some usefulness to an end user. Maybe someone with an etiquette advice website or blog would be interested in it...not sure about value

Thank you for the feedback, seems I will have to aim low on this and hope to get something if I sit on it.
