I was surprised to receive a few unsolicited PMs and emails about

people wanted to know more about a possible city.tv association. To get a

better feel about the possibilities I'd like to know if there any city.tv owners

on NP that will be DEVELOPING their city.tv domains in the near future

or have started to develop ? ... I am trying to gauge how many are domain

owners/flippers vs domain developers. Once I gather the responses

and get more feedback from the major players I will report on what the

possibilities could be and a possible timeline.

You may PM me or answer here.

Thanks.

Anthony

I have received some interesting PMs so far ... keep them

coming and BTW ... I am NOT starting an association nor

will I be the head. I am only trying to see what

the possibilities are for city.tv owners in terms of

increasing VALUE for these domains. If you have been

following what is going own with the city.coms you will

have noticed that some domainers have paid good money

just to own domains JUST to BE part of an association.

Thanks.

I have a couple, but they are not necessarily "pure"

They are cityST.tv names.

That being said, if I did own a pure big city geo.....I would likely develop on my own versus a joint venture for a couple of names. But that is said from a "programmer/developer" point of view of not wanting to share revenue.

If I was just a domain owner, I might consider it, but it would ENTIRELY depend on the platform.

Associated Cities charges a membership fee, not rev share.

TheBulldog membership is only for pure city.tvs like it is for the .com association ... there is no revenue share everybody owns their own sites ... the uniqueness of pure city domains is that owners can share alot amongst each other without competing with each other ... for city.tv owners that wish to develop alone they have a serious problem because like it or not they are competing with the .com owner and they have a fantastic association and people like the wonderful Castello brothers can only make it worse for any competition.

Like I said some domainers have bought city domains JUST because they

understand that an association ADDS VALUE and makes it

EASIER to develop SUCCESSFULLY. I always find it interesting

how people that make a few hundred dollars a month to 1000s a month wish

to do it alone while millionaires seek the help of other

millionaires in order to make MORE.

A few domainers that responded by PM said they are sitting on the fence

with development and would seriously consider developing them if there was

a good association that would help grow their site.

Here is an old link showing the power of a network of city.coms and association.

Boulevards.com in the top 500 Internet properties position 335

at time of article... it could only go higher imho.

I like the idea of city, country, travel destination .tv domain organization.

I have a Caribbean country .tv that I could join with.

Currently developing several geo names ... very slow process. I like the idea of developing my dotTV and joining an association. The Association concept could be quite effective in promoting geo .TV's. dotTV offers a distinctive contrast to .com.

True ... also, like it or not the .coms are competing with the .tvs ... some

city.coms started building their sites at least 10 years ago and they have a

great association ... the only way for city.tv owners to maximize

their domain value is to UNITE.

Oh yeah, all the extensions competing for eyeballs. dotTV has that instant consumer recognition ... so I'm a believer. :) The thing that makes the Association work is sufficient development. How similar the various geo sites are from one to another is something I have not thought through yet. You want some common functionality that ties sites together, but no cookie cutter identical either.

I've thought an awful lot about this thread and i'm really not sure what the major advantage would be to having an association??

I think developed geo owners keeping in contact, helping to advise each other is important but thats more about friendship & respect than any formal agreement.

What would a formal association agreement do for Geo owners that cant be done just by keeping in touch, posting on forums or chatting on MSN with others who are in similar position (as many of the .com geo owners do & as many of us who hope to become future Geo .tv developers already do)

Ronnie you are thinking too small ... if you make millions

per year with a single geo wouldn't you want to meet

your associates in person to discuss how to make more

and deduct the whole event ?

Not sure about the thinking too small part but anyway....

I do see why those in the same industry shoulc get to know each other, talk & share ideas but thats all informal friendships.
IF you are talking about some kind of formal agreement between an association that has rules & standards then i'm not so sure what the advantage is??

I'm not saying your wrong about Geo Associations as for certain reasons i can see why working together can help but i just dont see it as being as vital as you think.
