Butt.shop took only a minute on moniker under existing account.
Slider.shop - had to sign-up with dd24. Still "payment pending". Awaiting their verification - still early in Germany.

For those who have their domains still pending, check your spam for an email verification email. Your domain reg can only be validated after you've verified your email address. As soon as I verified mine, my free .shop domain went from "pending" to "active".

I will not waste my time on this, here's why.

The most valuable names are already taken or are premium priced.

Registrations only last a year and this new gtld is still virtually unknown to end users, so the chance you will sell one in the year you have before you pay full reg price is near zero, so...

It is not worth the time and effort to try one name after another to find one still left to reg that has some value.

This is just a gimmick by the registry to pump up their numbers and maybe trap some people into auto renewing these domains to make a few bucks.

Don't fall for it, you will waste time trying to find a decent name still available and it is not worth it, even if it is free.
