Yeah, I guess that makes sense Matt. Really unfortunate events, and probably came at the absolute worst possible timing for Vince and the WWE. And I did notice a much different tone in the program than there was with the Owen Hart show.

Worse stuff than murdering a 7 year old child?

Fine, maybe he was in a messed up mental state fueled by depression and steroids when he killed his wife. But reports are saying he murdered his son the day after murdering his wife. That sounds pretty f'd up.

I'd say over 8,000 people a day dieing of aids including children, motor vehicle crashes is worse then the single death of a 7 year old. Yes.

Yes that does sound pretty f'd up but I've also been hearing different stories like his wife killed their kid and he came home and killed her and in turn killing himself. I wouldn't say thats the Chris Benoit I knew, thats a stranger.

God forbid if something horrible happened to someone close to you, would you shrug it off and say "worse stuff happens everyday" ?

No I wouldn't shrug it off. Nor did I say to shrug it off, people should be grieving. When someone in my family dies I grieve, I don't think about all the bad things they did, I think about the good times we had and we should of had. I think about the times maybe I passed them up on doing something or visiting them.

WWE® Shocked At Latest Developments In Benoit Tragedy, Concerned By Sensationalistic Reporting
Written: June 26, 2007STAMFORD, Conn., June 26, 2007 – World Wrestling Entertainment is stunned and saddened by the details released by local authorities concerning the double homicide-suicide involving Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son, Daniel.

However, WWE is concerned with the sensationalistic reporting and speculation being undertaken by some members of the media following the press conference held by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney. During the press conference, the investigating authorities made the following points, all of which run contrary to the media speculation that "roid rage" was a factor in the senseless murders and suicide:

1. The authorities stated that all drugs found in the house were believed to be legal prescriptions.

2. Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoit’s state of mind, and rightly did not do so.

3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.

4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.

5. WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts.

WWE is continuing to monitor the ongoing investigation being conducted by local authorities.

WWE's response to the media saying steroids could have been a factor.

how can anything be worse than murdering your own flesh and blood?

people demonize a that cop that's accused of killing his 9 month pregnant girlfriend, but when a celebrity commit and equally gruesome crime...well, something HAD to be wrong. it's obvious that this guy was scum of the earth.

Worse than the death of a 7-year-old, yes... but not worse than murdering your own flesh and blood in one of the most painful and violent ways possible. Killing a child is probably one of the worst things a human being could do. Even more so if it's your own son or daughter. If memory serves from things I've read, it takes 5-10 minutes to kill a large animal by smothering them... even longer if the smothering is caused by a partial obstruction. I'd guess the animal would engage in several long minutes of violent struggle and then convulsions. I shudder to even think about anyone doing that to a small child.

Where did you hear or read that? His wife was killed prior to the child and they were both asphyxiated. How could the scenario you're talking about have occurred?

BTW, here is the only picture of Benoit's wife that I could find on Google. I've never seen her before this picture. Sorry about the sexiness of the pic... I'm not trying to show disrespect for the dead. It's just the only one I could find.

I'm not arguing what he did was wrong, theres no fact that it wasn't. He couldn't of been in a right state of mind. From all the stuff I read everyone said he was a family man and he had his kid at alot of matches and warmed up with him.

I mostly read it on digg but I can't find where exactly right now. This was all before you knew how they died and in which order. They theorized that she killed the son and he came home killed her and committed suicide.

I am disgusted at people that are telling him to Rest in Piece. He should be burning in HELL. This guy killed his 7 year old son and wife...How do you kill your own son at the age of 7? This guy if he was still alive would have been on trial. They have also found steroids in the home.

His wife also got a restraining order against him in 2003 for abuse.

Fake Wrestler + Steroids + Murderer + Wife Beater != a good man deserving any respect

Chris Benoit...SIH (suffer in hell)

Fake Wrestler: How can you say a fake wrestler? His job has nothing to do with his death. Wrestling isn't fake, it's just planned.

Steroids: He has subscription on the stereoids he used. It has not been proven yet if there were stereoids in his body.

They even removed his whole wrestler page from the WWE site. What he did was no doubt terribly wrong. But I dont think they should have removed every trace of him. :(

i agree on this one, they should have put up an article regarding his crime for all to see and remember

Benoit called WWE Talent Relations stating that his son was throwing up and that he and Nancy were in the hospital with their son, and that Benoit would be taking a later flight into Houston, landing late, but would make the WWE live event in Beaumont.

So I guess he was making sure WWE had his address so they could find him and his family. There was a report that said his wife had blood under her head, was bound and covered in towels. I wonder if he knocked her out then tied her up.

I can't get over the reports that he killed his wife one day, killed his son the next morning, then waited at least several hours to hang himself. Roid-rage is out of the question... this was blatantly premeditated. What could make someone snap so completely?

Everyone knew his address, he worked for the company since 1999, I believe. He was one of the most well known wrestler's of this generation. He sent the text messages to fellow wrestler's, one of them was just as his house a few days before.

The text messages really make me feel that there's more to this story.

the point wasn't whether or not they knew his address...the point was he wanted them to know where he would be when he didn't/call or show.

makes me think he wasn't too much out of his mind...he had the ability to send coherent text messages....this sounds premeditated to me.

The only trace I would allow, is them condemning him for his actions and an apology for having such a piece of crap represent their company.
We're talking about a 7 year old kid. Let's not praise this man for anything from his career as an entertainer. He's a freaking actor and a suspected murderer not a purveyor of good.

If you would look at the time line of this, people were saying rest in peace before it was known he was a murder.

WWE.com learned from an interview conducted Tuesday by Vancouver’s News1130 that Chris Benoit’s son Daniel possibly suffered from Fragile X Syndrome, a genetically passed-on condition that results in impairments ranging from physical and learning disabilities, to more severe cognitive or intellectual disabilities.

In the interview with News1130, Pam Winthrope, whose own 12-year-old son suffers from Fragile X Syndrome, recounted how she and her husband talked to Benoit about the condition five years ago.

“We talked to him because I was trying to set up a support group in B.C. and in Canada; we only have a couple of them,” she said. “My husband was struggling when we got diagnosed with our son, and Chris was struggling with his. They talked for a few minutes, and then he said he didn’t want to be a public face for Fragile X. He just wanted to keep it really, really quiet.”

A source close to Benoit recalls similar conversations with him, where he described his son’s condition as “a learning disability much like autism.” This source quotes Benoit as saying “Daniel wasn’t capable of interacting with other children and was afraid of other children. Daniel also had a hard time making eye contact with everyone, which was another symptom of his disability.” Benoit also claimed that his son was on medication for this condition.

Winthrope discussed the pressures facing parents of children diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome. During her interview with News1130, she stated that families can be torn apart by the disease because it's very difficult to find help and support. Winthrope added, "You as a parent have to go out there and find what's available and it's not easy -- they don't tell you."

A co-worker and long-time friend of the Benoits speculates that perhaps the pressures of home and Daniel’s illness had gotten to him, causing him to snap and take the lives of his wife and son before taking his own.

“Is it possible that after Chris killed Nancy (for whatever reason), he felt Daniel wouldn't be able to get the care and attention he required as a special needs child (if that is indeed true) with no mother and a father either in jail or dead? Did he then decide that the only way he could protect and take care of his son was to take him to the next world and go with him? In his warped and twisted state, did he think this was the only way to shield his son from a difficult life of pain and hardship? It doesn't condone or justify a damn thing, but it's the best reason I can think of. I'm trying to put together some semblance of logic for his actions, but it's an impossible task trying to explain this.”

:(

IMO this is more accurate than the roid rage rumors.
