I thought it may be a good idea to start a thread where we could discuss "Keyword Optimisation' for our parked domains.
I'm sure many Name Pro members have parked domains that receive unique views but have a very low click through conversion rate.
This is possibly due to the fact that we have misinterpreted what subject people were looking for when they type in our URLs.
For instance I had the domain SnuffStuff.com parked for many months at Sedo with my parking optimisation keyword set to 'Snuff Tobacco'.
It was recieving about 50 views a month but no clicks. I tried changing the Keyword to 'Smoking', 'Tobacco', 'Snuff', 'Give Up Smoking' etc but still the domain recieved no click throughs.
Several months ago somebody pointed out to me that 'Snuff' was an adult term for a rather sick type of pornography and that was probably what people were looking for when typing in my URL SnuffStuff.com
I have since changed my parking keywords to 'Adult Hardcore' and the domain is now getting a 25% click through conversion, and the income will surely exceed the yearly registration fee.
I am sure we all have domains parked with inappropriate keywords and I thought this thread might be a way we can list our traffic domains that don't convert and ask other opinions of how to achieve better click through rates with different keywords.
For example I also have the domain BedroomNights.com It recieves 50 - 60 views a month but never converts into clicks. I registered the domain thinking it would make a good name for selling Duvets, Pillows, Bed Sheets, Curtains, Lamps etc. and have my parking keywords set to 'Bedroom Furnishings'.
As these keywords are not providing any click conversion I am sure that people typing in BedroomNights.com are looking for something completely different.
What do you all suggest I should use for my parking keywords?
I think this is an important discussion for all because even a domain with a few uniques a month can pay its registration and become profitable by converting a % of traffic into clicks.
Plesase list your parked domains and keywords that fail to convert and lets all offer opinions on what keywords may offer better conversion potential.
