I believe only short and easy-to-remember domain names are sustainable, regardless of where in the world you live and which cultural background you come from.

Now that the Chinese domain market has become a hot topic, I myself want to understand this trend too. Is there any real meaning behind each domain name sold in China? Here, I'd like to share with you what I've found as I read the Chinese news everyday.

GZX.com
GZX can stand for 更自信 (even more self-confident) which can be used in many fields such as education, self-help, and even consumer products to raise your self image.

XLY.com
XLY can stand for 夏令营 (summer camp) or 新领域 (new field) which can be used in recreation and high-tech products.

Leo, guessing there is some irony here but not tuned into your wavelength so not quite getting It ? The all important thing is simplicity / seamless English & Chinese input on mobiles, The cachet of the com is great but needs to be seamless ala VR + character. Guess the teens will dictate this? IMO it will be taken as cool (mindset) to differentiate from an older generation (me yoda) If I was in China with your advantages its worth the 押注
OK buddy.
I don't want be impolite. you can take my words upside as a joke. That's just my unconscious guess.
IF you own the domain name ——VR旅行. Congratulations It's a good name indeed.
maybe it's not yours. Whatever ,I will not do a deep research.
I think i get your points. VR+PINYINS can be valuable.
Of couse I know that,.Some of my Chinese fellows have awesome names like that.
A few guys have made bucks from selling names to endusers or resellers.
I've saw many meaningless names either.
NP is a free place to post opinions. But I‘ll hold conservatism and encourage people not to register so much PINYIN names. .....
Anyway , thanks for your reply. Maybe we can have a conversation someday.
Wish you luck

@China auto, It may be cool but is it easy for consumers to remember?
Have to smile Kassey as that is my reason for posting and asking you. It seems to me that more terms are becoming universally known (cognitive) VR - AI are new even in English. Sex - War universal ?
would you remember VR性 ? (not a trick question : ) The thing is seamless use on a mobile which harks back to my original post re developing the games brand 八8 com or latterly 免费玩 com. Would you remember 八8 com ?

Thanks Leo, impolite never came into my thinking. You will see from my reply to Kassey my main play is developing 八8 com which I think ticks all the home market games / brand boxes in terms of short & cognitive to 88. I am not interested VR性 but would have assumed that could be a gem in the coal mine. As for VR+Pinyin most people (me) when cross referencing language Chinese sites think that 旅行 is traditional not pinyin, you really do have a great advantage to use. I do not post about values or not, more about the home market mindset.
Tried to find you on Linkedin to no avail, ping me to hook up.

I think mixing Chinese characters with English terms isn't good. Use just one or the other. Hey, I could be all wrong maybe they will brand everything "VR" too.

I bought Chinese script domains and pinyin too, and I hardly know Chinese! I am not biased to disagree with the IDN, but in my search I conclude IDN wasn't very popular mainly because extensions were English. It seems like a small reason but it comes down to it looking weird / unappealing and clumsy to type-in by changing the input on keyboard.

Anyone in the world can type in English letters rather easily. The only barrier for them would be understanding the meaning, especially words. That's why they like short English domains, easy for them to remember. I think they will like the IDN too, but not with mixed in English letters...because that only complicates their problem further.

Even though VRjie is popular, Leo said VRjie looks weird to him. I think that is because VR is an English term, and common in China as he said so himself. When he sees that he is expecting to keep reading English, but it followed by a pinyin word. I think he has to do a double-take before realizing "jie" is not English. Not that VRjie is a bad domain name, it just isn't a familiar practice to mix.

Hi JayT, I agree re changing the input and that is why I keep saying it needs to be seamless or one will lose the cognitive advantage although I think the com will be accepted seamlessly at some point, as for VR the jury is out. Tend to think with VR性 where there a will(y) there a way !!
八8 IMO is a brand that has it all.

The money has been invested already. Why on earth is everybody so scared? People dictate this market. Not a formula or mathematical equation....... Actually, this is a horrible market. It's time to sell. Take what you can get (so I can buy).... Ya'll realize that 4.cn and namepros prices aren't set in stone or relavent? Deep pockets will contact you. As helpful as this thread has been. It's been started for a reason- to manipulate the fool..... wow..... I'll take your chicken shit and turn it into chicken salad. This thread is bogus and only started to control you... Sorry @Kassey Lee but you know what you started. I don't like or trust you're horse shit one bit.

Why exactly are your flipping out so much? I don't think kassey ever said not to buy domains. I've shared ideas with kassey on other threads and that's all it is - IDEAS. No one knows what the best extensions are exactly, but we have the ideas. I've been buying pinyin for some time now, and I believe kassey has too! We all have disagreements from time to time as well, but I believe he is really putting his money where his mouth is.

Kassey,
Good on the 2004 registrant of 我爱你 com I note lot of urls with Chinese characters/words been indexed by local search engines already. Think it should be same in the domain soon although webmaster rarely use them in domains now. AI 2 AI will understand the nuances in indexing and I think the mainland government would support this natural national keyword move.
