Did anyone see the documentry about Chavs on Sky One in the week?

It was saying things like;

- Chavs are always bullied -

- Chavs are misunderstood -

In answer to THAT, Chavs are the people that bully generally. Many of my friends have been picked on, or beaten up by chavs (girls and guys alike) and it really disgusts me. For example, just the other week, a few of my friends were walking through a park near me, and a group of 100 chavs came up to them on motorbikes, and threatened to kill them , and then started beating up one of them, and said if they went to the police they would kill the person they were beating up :(

How is this 'Chavs are always bullied for being what they are'

Its just crap IMO.

To the - Chavs are misunderstood - arguement, how are they misunderstood? Generally they make themselves as clear and as loud as possible!

Ive been picking on by chavs for a while now, but it just comes with the group of people that i am friends with.

The reason they pick on people like me, is because everyone goes through primary school (4-11 years old) being a chav, and it is only when you start becoming independent, that some people choose to move to a different style (Called Jitters (Light Goths), or Goths), and because the chavs have never changed their style or anything, they just cant understand why people are individuals.

Im not having a go at Chavs as a group of people, i have some friends who are Chavs, its just a certain group of them that seems to spoil it for everyone :(

Any comments or thoughts?

Key :

Chav - A person that wears designer clothes, Worships Sport, Listens to Rap etc.

Jitter - A person that listens to rock, Generally wears hoodies.

Goth - A person that listens to rock, wears anything black, wears makeup ( eyeshadow) (guys and girls)

All i think , is its bullshit, when a women comes on, and defends a group of people who to be honest, are in no way perfect, and then blames us (my group of people) for everything.... it just makes me so angry.....!!!!

Interesting to see your description of townie, because where I am it was the word always used for Chavs - hang around outside mcdonalds, wear white hoodies and trainers, listen to dance or rap music!

Most people say I'm a Chav - just because I have some hefty gold jewlery... and like rap and dance... and wear the clothes. Oh dear >_<

Oops!

I meant Jitter!

The difference is though Rob, some of them are fine, i mean you for example wouldnt pick on someone just because they are different right?

But some of them do, and they are so arrogant to come up with all the 'Oooo chavs get it so hard' crap... its just unbelievable!

i sorta fit the desciption of a goth (I wear black all the time, andi listen to rock well actually metal 1 thing tho I don't wear and never have worn make-up)

Regarding the program I saw that and to be honest they seemed to have picked the most gaumless braindead girl to host it, she didn't seem to have a clue what she was talking about and when someone did not agree with her she just went into a strop, not very good for someone presenting a show.

For you to say tho that everyone starts off as a chav is somewhat misguided. I have never had any traits that are perceived of being chav like. I never have never worn designer clothing, I have always chosen to wear clothing that I like I dont care if it has a burberry name on it or something like that (but to be honest wouldn't be seen dead with anything like that style of clothing).

I dont think you can isolate chavs as being the bullies just as much you cant claim another group. Society tends to pick on people that are different. I on a daily basis get comments and looks from people of all type of groups because of the music I listen to (I dont hide the fact I am into extreme music and my t-shirts etc reflect this) but if you look deeper into it you tend to find that these people have no idea whatsoever of what the music is like and when you try and explain to them they just shut off or accuse you of lying or trying to force your music onto them. People claim to be very open minded but in all honesty very few are.

On a side note unfortunately I used to live in Chatham (the town where chavs got the name) Not the best of places lol.

Agreed with a lot of that, to be honest i am a jitter yet i like all different kinds of music.... (apart from a music in other languages apart from Spanish and Norweigan - Ive heard German and French songs too but i cant stand them ) but i mostly listen to rock cause i love it :)

Im not trying to isolate chavs, but it may be just around were i live (Bristol) but ive never seen a goth or jitter pick on or bully a chav....

Maybe its just what happens here?

Nah dont you believe it. We have enough hassle here with Chavs outside mcdonalds or down the bus station beating people up for nothing.

I aint that kinda chav!

eugh... I hate chavs just because they are so repulsive, and I know that anyone on this forum is not the kinda chav I'm talking about because the people I am talking about beat up people for being associated with this kinda forum. In fact, the chavs I'm talking about reject the internet alltogether, apart from to use MSN and to download the maths h/w or something.

In my village there aren't any real chavs (or kevs for that matter) just the occational person, but I hear in london that children are being attacked for not wearing nike trainers and stuff!

I don't think thats fair on those people.

Well, we have what you might call chavs over here as well, but they tend to behave rather peacefully and mind their own business.

We had a bad Chav group here - called themself the ECM.

They hung around East Cowes (luckily I lived in West Cowes) and ECM stood for 'East Cowes Massive" (although I heard there was a rival group - East Cowes Maffia.)

Stupid names, sure. But they seemed to take it very seriously. Beat people up for nothing. One time a middle aged man was beaten badly for his curry. Nice Chavs!

Well intresting topic, I come from Liverpool were there is quite a lot of so called chavs (the ones that will rob your grannys handbag for her weekely pention type). Although not all of them go around beating people up and looking for trouble, just because they may wear so called chav clothes doesnt always mean they are a chav. I have a lot of "chavish" friends yet also alot of "jitter" freinds and there all great, but I hate the stereotype some may use such as people who like sports (common who doesnt like sports? lol) and listening to rap music & dance, there is also enough chav's that listen other music genres. I don't agree with that chavs dont like individuals, because goths are not individuals there is lots of them just like chavs. Yet tbh I hate most of the chav's I see around the city center also, so I can see were your comming from hehe :P

I listen to rap and dance music - they are great, but I don't like the clothes. Its the teenager theory again:

If you had a group of 100 teenagers and one takes drugs, onlookers will assume that the rest are the same. Basically, whatever is bad sticks out. So people wearing those clothes and caps, and who always hang around in big groups with 2 girls and 10 boys will always be seen as aggressive. :(
