OVT results December:
111526 champ
584 champ.com
(multipyly x 5 for accuracy)

You've got a very healthy dn there, George. I had a couple of immediate questions when I researched:
Looks like you lucked out and reg'd it way back in '95 simply because it was your last name? (how's the weather there in Calif?)
I checked TESS, and there are a few trademarks still live for Champ, is yours one of them?
With a great domain name like champ.com, and its truly valuable relevant uses, why are there a whole whack of 'shoe' store/sale links on it?
Are you into domaining and know their values, or did you reg the name simply because it was your last name, and now want to find out the value of it?
This is a very valuable name, as you will find out after further appraisals on this site. It has a huge variety of uses and applications in the business and personal world out there. Let us know a little about history/plans for it. If you plonk it for auction on ebay you'll be happy you did :)

That domain is worth a pretty penny. You will have to tread carefully due to TM issues though.

:) Great name ! - Yet another first post with a "possible" $xx,xxx > domain - Luv it - welcome & congrats on having a sweet name.

Good Luck - Take your time and get a great sale :)

not sure about putting it on ebay unless you can notify loads of potential end users - I suggest parking it at sedo.com - it is sure to make it into the "top domain" category. They can also arrange a safe sale for 10% fee.

ps - it's not George Foreman by any chance :hehe:
pps - I'm jealous ! well, just a little.

More Info

Thanks for the replies. I have no trademarks. I got it because it is my last name. Played around with it for awhile as a personal site. Then I intended to develope it, but I never got around to developing it. I have had a few offers in the past (including one for $10,000 back in 2000). Now I have one for US $17,900 (10,000 today and 7,900 in 1 year). This sounds like a pretty good offer (any comments?). My main problem is how do I enforce a clause in the contract that says the name reverts back to me if the 7,900 payment is not made? Any one with ideas or suggestions?

I haven't done any marketing of this name. I have mixed feelings because this is my last name. I also have looked around with developing some other names and may do so in the future.

Thanks a ton.

My advice is to go to a lawyer. You can always lease the domain and then have an option to buy after a year. If I were you, I would not sell for that amount especially when there is an added risk of a future payment.

I would park it at sedo - pay sedo $39 for an appraisal - wait until you get a few offers that are great - It has to be worth the wait in my opinion. It could get an xxx,xxx price.

Sedo will also make it a secure sale for both you and the buyer - you have to do this properly.

$20,000 is too cheap IMO

STOP! This name is worth much, much more. I wouln't let it go for any less that $50,000, but it is easily worth six figures to the right company.

Too right - It feels like :santa: Christmas again and it's not even mine

To give you some indication what is possible - Brown.com just sold for $300,000 apparently -- I like yours much more :)

Hey Gene - I think we killed him - Heart Attack :yell:

Yup, better hold it than sold it!
The offer in hand isnt worth it at all, mid $xx,xxx is the minimum one should go fo rit if in dire need.

Your name has multiple uses, after all there has to be a champion for everything :)

I say hold onto it. The .com industry isn't going anywhere but up, so it will be worth holding out for the right price. I say easily high $xx,xxx.

It is highly brandable such as as a perfume for men, huge market today and many other applications- suggest you contact Nora at Sedo and get them to act as brokers, you have a name that should go in to $xxx, xxx - you have waited 10 years- a bit longer would not be a problem:?

More Champ

This name is worth much more than $10,000 now, $7,900. So I would say no deal to that, even if they paid it all now. I would do everything I could with this domain name. Submit it to www.GreatDomains.com , just to see what type of $$$$ figure they give it, plus you will get free advertising.

List it at www.Sedo.com, www.Afternic.com , www.ImpressiveDomains.com, and anywhere else you can. Join other domain forums (www.Namepros.com is the best!!) to give your domain even more exposure, ideas, and maybe even offers.
I wouldn't waste any money to have this domain name appraised, it will determine it own worth, by what you are doing now. The only thing I would pay for to to maybe submit it to search engines.
Last but least, you have had the name this long, and it is your last name. No reason to get in a hurry to sell it now. Make sure you get what you want for it. Good luck with this great name.
IMHO

Wow, with such a nice short .com like this one, with lots of overture with extension results, this domain is probably worth high $xx,xxx, and even $xxx, xxx if you could find the right end-user -- a corporation probably who would want to use this as their brand.

Yeah, like the others, I'd suggest you hold on to it in the meantime, and get a much higher offer for it than the current one!

Champ.com is a Champion domain.

This is worth some good money.

But Champ is not a generic dictionary word hence the live trademark.

Trademark results here. http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfiel...h&a_search=Submit+Query&a_search=Submit+Query

If Champ is your name I don't think anybody can touch you for trademark issues but that may change for a buyer. (unless the new buyer changes his name to Mr. Champ by deed poll.)
