Completely unknown - probably not true. I think a good percentage of people would have seen it used before. In a large part because foxtel promoted a .tv for a fair while before moving to .com.au and some tv programs use it.

Snoop foxtel is still promoting not "used to"
you might want to check out fox8.tv used by Fox,

theres plenty of .tv in use here and seems to be growing if advertising is anything to go by,

Some of the biggest advocates of .Tv here at Namepros are Australian as well.

take healthcare.tv - an ozzie website i predict great things for this site - so far the best developed site by far from a np member here (although I aim to challenge that!!!)

take idevelop.tv - an ozzie developer with major league premos
take the owner of beer.tv......

given their forward way of thinking, i am happy to place my bets on canberra

Great sale since .tv is completely unknown to ordinary Australians and would not even be a top 6 extension in Australia.

I think the same can be said of just about every country. .TV is just not THAT well known...YET.

foxtel.com.au is not the focus of their network promos, it not promoted as their main site it is their corporate site sure but definitely NOT promoted as their main site, that role belongs to fox8.tv

You are off on a tangent, Fox 8 is a tv channel. Foxtel is a cable operator.

Like I have already said foxtel.tv used to be promoted, now it is foxtel.com.au. Alot of people would have seen foxtel promoted in the past as it was promoted to the general public at large, fox 8 on the other hand would be mainly known by subscribers (under 30% penetration). Fox8.tv isn't an example of how most Australians would know about .tv, Foxtel.tv probably is.

By the time I posted in this thread (aside from saying congrats in my first post) 3 or 4 people had already started discussing the merits of .tv here, on both sides of the fence.

In snoop's defense (not that he needs me to defend him) he made one of the early congratulatory posts.

And it seems that some people enjoy sticking it to him, equally or more, than he enjoys sticking it to .TV

.Mobi supporters hate Jeff, .TV supporters hate Snoop, and Gay people hate Mr.T. That's just the way it is.

Anyway... I'm SO happy for MellowMasher on this sale. She's been working hard, and plugging away... it was only a matter of time.
