I increased my offer to 250k a few moments ago but after this I am on the sidelines.
Unlike all the talk I said I can cut a cheque on demand.

Seriously it would be a conquest deal for me and nothing else so after this I am out for sure.

I wont be submitting one, as discussed earlier :)

It doesn't seem to have stopped them.
No, it didn't. Hence why I said the owner should be suing the domain registrar too for even handing it over illegally.

I'm sure all that is happening but the legal costs can get into the hundreds of thousands.

So imagine someone pays 1 million for Canada.com and then still has to defend it.
Asking 2.5 million is a bit much in my opinion because the domain name is tied to a country with a limited population.

Other domains like pets.comcan be applied in any country and multiple countries and they can justify a cost in the millions. Canada.com is a failing newspaper outlet just like the rest of them and even with a primo domain name they cannot make a go of it. Why? because it's only canada with a limited target audience.

A domain like Reuters (which is not as nice) but can be used anywhere in the world will have a higher success rate.

And a name guarantees nothing without work - look at Internet.com, a huge $18M sale after the media company failed, and look at it now - a generic "How To" site that a kid with a day on Wordpress could duplicate.

You gotta have a plan.
