Can you register 2 letter domains @ Moniker? There's a certain one I want to register, but it is showing up as taken on Moniker, but other places it's available.

Most extensions if not all do not allow 2 char domain names to be registered any more. If a 1, 2 or 3 char domain name drops and is not caught it is lost forever.

Unfortunately some registrars show these as available until you actually try and register it.

Two letter .Infos are notorious for showing as available. They do not exist.

But there are a number of obscure country code extensions that have two letter names available to register. .LA, .VC and .HN come to mind, there may be as many as a dozen or two out there. I own several LL.LA's. Not sure how to evaluate them.

Many (not all) REGISTRARS have software that will not let you buy two letter names even when they really do exist. I spoke to someone at Godaddy about that a while ago, he knew about the problem but the market for them was so small that he didn't seem to care.

Now, at my new host I find that CPanel gives me a polite note: "We are sorry, but we believe a domain name must have at least six characters."

Utterly unbelievable!

Actually this ccTLD does allow 2 character domains & they are available, but when I search Moniker, it says they are taken. Should I presume Moniker doesn't allow 2 characters?

I recently had a conversation with John at Moniker support. I had the same question when attempting to move 2x 2 character .cc domains from eNom to Moniker. According to John Moniker DOES permit these transfers and i'm currently in the process of moving them over.
New registrations are a different topic; there are only a selected few registrants that allow 2 character regs. www.idotz.net would be one of them, i believe dotster does as well.

I had a 2 char .cc domain regged at Moniker. I couldn't transfer it to GoDaddy (as accentnepal said) but was able to transfer it to eNom.
