Can Newbies Still Make Money?

Hi,

I have been pondering this question for a little while and have finally come forward to find some answers. I am wondering whether or not people who are new to the domain market, with limited amount of money, still become large money earners? Being a new comer myself, I am finding it hard to buy and sell domain names as I have limited funds. Can us new comers (with limited funds) still make some money into todays fluctuating market?

Well, I don't want to take on the Duke. :hehe:

I've just observed what sells through Afternic most of the time and most of the time it is dot coms. We see interest from buyers for names ending in other tld's, but not that much interest. It just gives me all the more respect for people like Duke who market and sell them as well as they do.

Sedo on the other hand sells truck loads of new TLD's and ccTLD's (and has issued press releases on the boom in new extension sales there). With their European base and global sister sites I can see why they own the ccTLD space but I'm not sure why they also dominate the .us/.info/.biz new extension space. Whatever the reason, they have proven the market is there and that it is constantly growing (not that I needed any outside proof as I have seen it happening in my own business for 3 years).

Aside from the extension discussion, Afternic and Sedo are both great sales venues with excellent management and it has been a real pleasure for me to work with them the last few years.
