It is technically possible to receive payment in any form for domains, the trouble is that you are going to have a hard time convincing anyone that you are on the level.

Nigeria doesn't have a stellar record in producing legitimate businessmen, far more prefer to try to pose as African princes who just need $20,000 to free up their billions.

I certainly would never send off my money to a random person anywhere in the world, much less to anyone from a country with a reputation as bad as Nigeria has.

Get a proper internet money account such as one from Paypal or even Alertpay.

Western Union is great when you are wiring money to your family who are having money troubles while backpacking, it is a death knell to the trust of business transactions though.

i have to agree with this.. it is possibility scam since i send money and they can just take my money and bounce off without any tracking... I don't support that till you get paypal or some other legititmate service.

Furthermore, it would be prudent for the buyer to research the ownership / history of what they're buying ;)

"Nigeria doesn't have a stellar record in producing legitimate businessmen, far more prefer to try to pose as African princes who just need $20,000 to free up their billions."

what Sparhawke told is absolutly true. i know one of my home town fellow lost every thing from his home to family because of a nigerian scam.

You first make sure the buyer is not from the nigeria or africa it self. coz amazing you got a deal from out side africa. i know your guys having a hard time on the net coz of the scammers. Be sure to build a good reputation on places like this (np, dp etc).

Yes western union is avaialbe almost every ware. You can check the availability here www.westernunion.com

Most buyers online preferrer paypal only. If you don't have paypal, you get less opportunities online.

Another idea for you to use is Escrow. Nothing against you as I or any of us don't know you, but no one is going to send you Western Union. Without even a second thought. You will get a no and you'll lose the transaction. Nigeria and Western union give the general population a VERY sour taste in mouth. Sorry about that.

Yes, sorry about my negativity towards Nigeria and Africa as a whole but it is nothing personal, I am just of a mind that if you are going to deal with anyone then you must know their reputation first.

I made a big effort to first get 1000 or so posts here so at least others could get to know me from such forum leviathans like UsualCliche, MM, Firefly, Johname, Microguy...most of whom I have never dealt with but who at least have some idea of my name and what I stand for.

It is like this on any forum, you have to get your name known before you can have a chance but as you come from Nigeria your efforts must be trembled, take comfort in the fact though that once you have gained trust then you will likely be the first port of call like a certain Nigerian is from the Warriors Forum :)

If you have a friend or family in another country that accept paypal, and the paypal account aloud transfer money from the paypal account into a local bank account

If you find some one, in another country that do that for you, will aloud you to access the paypal account from Nigeria, transfer the money to the local bank account and then make a regular bank transfer from the online local banking to your bank in Nigeria.

This is of course, if you have some one that you trust enough and vice versa, to do that for you, it is a difficult task what you are asking, but wish you luck.

Regardless of where you might be, buyers and sellers must always be careful. I have previously asked for reliable references when using WU into areas with, uh, questionable(?) reputations.

Or, have remitted partial payments against domain purchases then balance due after transfer init and agree.

I've been lucky I suppose. It certainly requires more than a little trust, on both sides of the deal. Good Luck.

This rings all kinds of alarm bells.

Scammers are clever, and this practice does not pass the stink test.

If you have to ask, then chances are you have a bad feeling about it.

Better to lose the sale than a domain.

Just my humble opinion.

I agree,if I wanted to take a risk I would gamble, but I would really like to hear from someone with lot of experience, can something go wrong when you already have your domain and hosting account under your password(I am not taking hackers into consideration here, that's another subject)
