dot app will definitely replace domains in the form {x}app.com, but I don't see them being used for anything other than mobile app landing pages.

Not in the short term. As has been pointed out above, this gTLD isn't exactly a generic TLD. The .COM also has a thirty three year head start. Web usage on the .APP gTLD is still very low and this is unlikely to change much in the next six months. Web usage in .COM is quite healthy but the Chinese registrations are lowering the overall usage rates.

What is wrong with you !?!? With all your posts of the past week, the only thing what you are doing is to damage the ".app" on NP.
Replacing ".com" ?!?! Are you serious? .APP is focused on the APP niche and .COM works for everything.
I invested around $600 in .app names. In my opinion, it has a bright future also now that the IOT is coming.
LiFi .app - CryptoTrading .app - ForexSignals .app - GPSTracker .app - ... i´m sure I sell all of them, the question is, for XX? XXX? X.XXX? Maybe more? Already received 3 offers.
Your "S9000 .app" i´m afraid that they will not sale because you haven't got any keywords. They make no sense and I´m sorry if I sound rude.

Why are you asking a question that won't benefit you in anyway? I guess you already have the answer and its plain simple that a website and an application are totally two different things and fairly small number of business ventures provide application to their customers.

But even let's say .app becomes the next .com, I don't get how you benefit out of it? It would be the registries and registrars gain not yours.

Instead of asking irrelevant questions that harms new gTLD investors, you should focus on your portfolio and try to hand register killer domains or purchase them in the aftermarket.

I am curious, would you feel comfortable to share your favorite .app domain that lead you to ask this question?

probability of .horse replacing any other tld is negative, while .app replacing .com version of the domain is not impossible.

Name like o882 / app ... there are no chances to resell those imo, unless I miss something very important here.
