I think with the rise of smart/mobile devices you're going to see an extremely large % of cabs dispatched via website in the next few yrs.

You gave the best reason why this is worthless. You would be surfing the web not making a call. And if someone had a smartphone with them they could easily make a phone call , why surf the web. The only way this would work is if someone was carring a laptop and had all the time in the world to do this but if you got a smartphone it means you can make a simple phonecall. and since no cab company has done this since the web has been around , cant see them doing it now. would be a collosal waste of time. people call cabs not order them on the web. But hey maybe in 25 years , ya never know.
